I'm going to wait until 2028 just to be safe. That is unless.....no 4'th gens with MT. Then I'll get a 2025, from Canada.

WTF, I took a bath with my '14 in 2016, now I'm going to have to do it again in 2018?

FWIW, I do like my '16 as much as I still enjoy my 2003, which I'm still I'm love with. Which in fact, at 196,0000 miles, I'm about to finally replace the original suspension on.

I should add that I've already spent more money on my 2016 then I spent on my 2003. Of coarse they were all unnecessary mods. LOL

A Toyota engineer, from HQ in California, tested and confirmed I have a defective transmission today. The dealership will be ordering a new transmission for my truck and taking my failed unit for further study as to what went wrong. I am hoping the new transmission is the latest in hardware, as I don't want an ongoing nightmare. This has been very trying, and I would really like to start enjoying my $36k investment. I think it would be an appropriate gesture for Toyota to provide me with a Platinum 8 year waranty considering the mess I went through.

I would be asking corporate for a 8yr/125k platinum extended warranty for sure. I got one from the low fluid and issues with the tranny. If they're replacing it, you should definitely qualify.

That is good information. Thank you for your help. Had anyone else been granted extended waranties for transmission issues?

I believe @smitty99 did too. There are others that got similar for issues too. I had to be persistent, every time I talked with someone, I brought it up, and they did inform me after several phone calls that it was approved. The official paperwork/booklet was mailed a couple weeks later. It helped restore some trust, I feel that they do stand behind their product and want to take care of me as a customer.

From my discussions with a friend who works at the Toyota Tech Center, 2018's will have an all-new electrical package. He recommended getting a '17 due to the increasing complexity of the Gen 2.75's.

Hi. Can you tell us what will be different with the electric package, and/or why they are changing it?
