i just traded up from a 2010 Silverado Z71 4 wheel with all the bells for a 2017 tacoma off-road… and so far i love it… i do however miss the rumble of my v8. but other then that the trucks been pretty dope. Depends on your lifestyle man. but if your not doing any heavy tow and don't have a million people in the truck every weekend go with the yota. And that resale value… chevy/gmc have the worse turn over. You get your moneys worth with the tacoma. and if you wheel at all, more trail worthy… and this things wheels like a beast

Seriously? I've owned both (a 15 Tacoma and 14 Silverado). Let me tell you the 3rd gen definitely does not outshine either of them in any one department.

Some of U all fail to remember that people with 3rd gen issues post here more than the ones without issues.

I don't have any issues. But OP needs to realize what he's getting into.

Agree to an extent, but I find it interesting that my 16 getting a diff replacement, and now 17 loaner both have the diff howl...along with 170 of us here in the diff howl thread...

My Tacomas have been great, this turd gen however has had so many problems (not just from people on the forums, people I know). I probably will either get a New Sierra or F150 5.0. I could care less about trade in as I keep my trucks for the long haul.

Lets face it, Toyota rushed this truck to market.

+1. Trans and engine reprogramming and these trucks would be great though

None of that is new, bud, Toyota's hold high resale value compared to any other manufacturer, but that poster is comparing an older Silverado (2010) to a new gen, totally different, better mpg, more tech, etc.

And why the hell the diff is howling, pretty unsettling for long term warm fuzzies.

Here I am just driving my 3rd gen around, had dealership check ALL issues that were posted here before I bought it and nothing was out of wack. No issues at all, no whistles, no noises, no vibrations nothing.

2014+ is leaps and bounds above the 07-10 trucks
