Just curious if this has been done and how it looks? Wanted to order one but not sure how that silver would go with the White of my truck. Thinking it would look better if powder coated, LineX'd or painted black.

Spray paint it. Cheap and its a bash plate.. it will get roughed up. Powdercoat does work, but if you get a dent and chip it, you gotta redo it. Just get a self etching can from homedepot or autozone and have fun. Or a can of rustoleum enamel and roll it on.

Has anyone used Line-X? I figure they can Line-X an egg and drop it off a building and it would stay intact, then why not Line-X your skid plate.

I linex'd one on my 2nd gen back when I had it and loved the look/results. However, I'm an admitted road warrior/mall crawler. My ride very rarely hits dirt unless it's between the highway and a boat launch.

On your 2nd gen, how did the Line-X hold up? Did it see any damage, I am trying to see if Line-X is a more valuable option over powdercoat.

I had it on there for about 18 months before selling the truck but it looked as good the day I took it off as the day I got it sprayed. I think with it being on the underbody it isn't exposed to the harmful UV rays etc that sometimes causes LineX to fade/discolor.

Like I said though, I dont rock crawl/go mudding etc. The only times my vehicle sees dirt is to park it at the hunting camp or to back the boat into water.

Bump, one last thought on this one. Going to order the skid plate today. Found a local shop that will Line-X it for me for $40 - which I believe will be cheaper than having it powder coated black.

Just get the cheap stuff that you put on yourself with a roller or foam brush. Bang it up, touch it up. You can't touch up Line-x yourself can you? I mean it's not like folks are going to go around inspecting the condition of your skid plate.

Line-x itself may hold up well, but if you do any reasonable off roading, the plate won't. Have a feeling whatever you coat it with will at least crack from the dents and the banging out of the dents.

My local dealer ended up being the cheapest option for me due to the S&H costs of ordering online. They quoted me $350 + sales tax on it. I found it for comparable prices and even a couple of places a little cheaper online but most were $50+ on S&H and I come out cheaper paying the sales price + tax at my dealer.

Bump, skid plate is supposed to be in Wednesday. Still considering options, getting it strictly for aesthetics as I don't off-road. Any last minute thoughts? Options are plasti-dipping or rattle canning it myself, having in line-xd for $40 or a local shop will powder coat it for $50.
