This is a serious question. Are these people simple or something or am I being unreasonable in my inquiry?

    Me:
I want THIS EXACT TRUCK, give me an ITEMIZED OUT-THE-DOOR PRICE INCLUDING TAX, TITLE, LICENSE and REGISTRATION for THE EXACT TRUCK SPECIFIED.

    Them:
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ...we have these that are close to what you want... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ... only 3% of Tacomas are manuals ... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ... come in and take a test drive ... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ... come in and we can wrap this up today ... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah....

Me: (I send them a PDF file of a truck I built on the Toyota website) HOW MUCH MONEY, IN AMERICAN DOLLARS, ARE YOU GOING TO CHARGE ME, OUT-THE-DOOR, FINAL COST, ALL INCLUSIVE, WITHOUT THE DEALER ADD ONS THAT I DO NOT WANT AND DO NOT COME FROM THE FACTORY, IS THE TRUCK THAT I WANT ???? GIVE ME A PRICE. I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS UNTIL THIS NUMBER IS PROVIDED.

Seriously, this is NOT a hard concept to understand. Are they dumb or am I just an @$$h01e?

    ... or both?

That's their job to sell you what they have first, your job is to ensure you get what you want. As hard as it is, you get more by being nice and persistent. I had to get firm with my sales guy a few times, with we don't talk about anything until this is worked out kinds of emails. I also told him in our first meeting that I understand his job is to try to take more of my money, and my job is to keep my money. And I was clear that I could wait and would shop around if needed. I really got him worried when I used an online site to check around for offers, he asked if I knew I included their dealership in my request, I said yes, until we have deal i feel is fair, I will keep shopping for what I want. We came to terms quickly after this. Point being use the system, play the game, it can be worth it.

    Off my soap box now.

I just carpet bombed the entire State of Arizona for a 2017 Tacoma and getting a figure out of these d0uchb@gs is like pulling friggen teeth. Which is what I am fantasizing about doing to these people with a pair of rusty pliers and a ball peen hammer.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I went through this a couple years back when I bought mine. I went from dealership to dealership until I found one willing to order exactly what I wanted. Was the 5th one I visited that day. The key was to find one that didn't have any at the time. Everyone else wanted to sell me what they had on the lot or what was coming. I just happened to hit a dealership that had none and they salesman was like, Let's go inside and order you what you want. Took a few weeks to get, but it was exactly what I wanted and they agreed to the price I offered after a tiny bit of back and forth. Couldn't have been happier.

The trucks are going to sell. That's the point.
They don't have a ton of control over what is in their queue or what they can order.
When I ordered mine, I waited months, although not as long as some in the waiting thread. There were some things they could change in the queue, but often not enough.

Getting upset makes you the loser. $0.02
It is just business. Ask to get in the queue, see how close you can get, and shop until you find it.
Don't get offended at their not jumping to work weeks to make $1000 off you when they'll make that same money on the guy who buys off the lot in an afternoon. And don't let them convince you they are offended you're shopping around. Again, it is just business.

    A bit of both.

Mostly that they're retarded, but I'm willing to accept that they're the other as well. Also, this isn't just Toyota salespeople, it's pretty much every dealer. Always the same damned lines "So what's it gonna take to get this deal done?" Uhh... could you answer the questions I just asked? o_O

I am a VERY reasonable man, and I am NOT going to try and talk them down on a price AT ALL, I'm just trying to GET A PRICE on WHAT I WANT. Very simple concept. I can build it on the web site, I give it to the dealer, they give me a price, I give them money, they give me a friggen truck, the end. Simple.

I feel your pain. Been shopping for the 17 PRO, and have two dealers with trucks within a few hrs of each other. The last few years I have had really good success doing the whole deal via email. That includes trading in a vehicle as part of the deal. I sent pictures, VIN, etc, and specified how much I was willing to take for my trade as well as the new car price. Mind you these were all long distance deals and I couldn't risk waisting tons of time and gas going to a dealer without numbers on paper before I left my house. Now fwd to present day and dealing with the internet sales guys is like pulling teeth. No responses, or very little info coming back. I have resorted with the PRO buy to actually call and talk to some one, or in the case of the one truck 15 mins from my house, I actually drove down cold and showed up on Sunday afternoon right before the dealer even opened. I haven't done that in heck 20 yrs.....It makes the whole deal a time consuming pain the rear....

Don't waste your time with dealers that aren't high volume sellers.
Large dealers like a longo for example only care about putting units in operation
They have no issues selling vehicles at invoice as they make up for it on the back end by flooding their pma and taking customers away from dealers on other pma's
There's atleast one in every city, find it and only deal with them.

It is a requirement to have sub 50 IQ points to work at a dealership. They check that shit.

Their job is to try their damndest to sell you what's on the lot. If the truck you looking for is there, you're golden. If not, then what you want is at best of secondary concern to them.

That, and every salesperson I've talked to knows next to nothing spec-wise about the Tacoma.

If you don't mind traveling a long ways contact Jay Wolfe Toyota in Kansas City. Bought mine from them. Ordered last Oct and they were more than willing to order the exact build I wanted. I waited almost 3 months to get it but I got my build. Picked it up Dec 28th and made the over 500 mile trip home.

The problem is finding a dealer that is willing to do a little extra to get you exactly what you want.

Several dealers tried their best to get me to buy this model or that model that was on their lot, after driving hundreds of miles to numerous dealerships and driving nearly every model, my had to have items were, BBP, V6, Auto, AC, Tow Pkg, Cruise, intermittent wipers, aluminum wheels.

A few dealers told me that BBP was even harder to find in AC, I told them that`s ok I can wait. It took a little over a week and they went out of state to get it but my dealer found what I wanted, the only thing that they did not get me was aluminum wheels, which I was glad later on because I like the aftermarket wheels that I went with even better.
