Pics or it didn't happen... :stirthepot:

Not trying to start a pissing contest either, with my photo. Just stating from my own personal experience. The GF's dad has a 2010 GMC 2500, and a pallet of wood pellets (an even 2000lbs, plus the 20-something pounds of the pallet) has his truck resting firmly on the bump stops. My dad's 2004 GMC is the same way.
And forget loading 2000lbs in a Tacoma, lol.

A modern truck can definitely outtow my old Dodge, no doubt about it; it's a slant six, so it's slooooooooow, haha! Maybe an HD version of a new 2500 or 3500 can outdo it in payload, too. Everything I've got to compare against is either a new 1/2 ton (crap for payload) or a 2003-2010 3/4 or 1 ton, and their suspensions are soft. But, with the 'my truck can out-truck your truck' battle between the big 3 over the last few years, probably payloads have increased too.

Washington State has some hefty fines for unsecured loads and even arriving at the dump/transfer station with an unsecured load will net you a fine. Look up Maria's Law for more info about it.

I had something similar happen here in VA on the way back from DC a few months ago. Truck a few hundred yards ahead was loosing plastic sheeting out of the back of his truck and a huge piece flew up and landed across my windshield. Thankfully it was predominately on the passenger side and I pulled off on the shoulder to remove it. After that it was game on to catch him, get his plate and call Virginia State Police on him.

Difference being that the old trucks are still running strong, see us again in 30+ years.

Sure. Paraffin's a lubricant, and it's subject to capillary action same as anything else, so there's no reason it shouldn't work.
But penetrating oil would typically work better, I would think.

You guys must not be using them enough, if they're rusting.

    Redundant. Rust is corrosion...

    I thought rust was oxidation...

When oxygen reacts with steel to form iron oxide ( rust) it is an oxidation reaction, a reaction between the steel and oxygen in the air. When this happens in a place you don't really want it too it is termed corrosion. In other words the chemical mechanism of corrosion is mostly* oxidation.Oct 25, 2015

    Nevermind.

Seems to be an issue in many parts of VA. I've dodged a generator that fell off of a pickup with no tailgate before. Also seen some weird stuff like, like push lawnmowers stacked up in a pickup bed higher than the cab roof with no rope holding them down. Nevermind the random debris like paint cans, wood, trash etc. I've seen fall off of trucks.

Wish I had the pic on this phone, but a few years ago a girl arrived at work with a shattered windshield. Glass all over the seats and floor. A metal canister fell off of a flatbed and smacked the seam where windshield meets the roofline just above the driver side sun visor. Had it been about six inches lower I don't know that she would have made it in to work that day. She tried flagging the truck driver down but the guy just kept going pretending he didn't see her. She reported it to the police and provided a plate number, but they told her they couldn't prove it came from that truck so nothing they could do.

I was on the hwy going 70mph. All of a sudden the car in front of me swerved to the right and missed a tumbling box of books flying out of it. Unfortunately I didn't have time to avoid it and ran into it head on. Books and paper everywhere. Ohh I was so mad. I pulled over expecting a cracked bumper or some damage...not a scratch, can't believe it.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
My buddy actually saw a $8000 four wheeler fall off a trailer, at 80+mph, the people never even saw or felt it come off the trailer. It tumbled pretty good, so it was beat up pretty bad, but he sold parts off of it and made around $3k.
