Pull a roll of steel off a drum when it's freezing ass cold.
Then pull a roll of rope in the same conditions.

I used wire rope for a few years, on a budget and all. By the time I switched to the synthetic, the wire had frayed and had bits of single braid just waiting to slip right through the palm of my hand, wrist, webbing in my fingers, etc... Heavy leather gloves were a must.

Several years later, I'm still using the same synthetic line and most of the time with bare hands.

The was one of the main things I was concerned about, but when you're talking $400 different is it worth it? Especially if you might have to use 1-2 times a year. It's seems a majority of the time someone with a strap is more convenient.

Haha actually looked at two different models by mistake, BUT the difference is still like $270.

    You can use wire rope.
Synthetic is nicer to use and better for lots of reasons but I'd rather have a winch with wire rope than no winch at all. You can always upgrade later too.

You mean pulling it out for some awesome staged pictures doesn't count as using it?

haha! A quick skim over his Instagram page can't even find evidence of such a staged photo. I've been told winches make damn good ornaments, though. Especially with a Prolink... of which I'm just as guilty for owning.

i posted a link to one of the best synthetic winch line makers in the bis, and they aren't even close to $400 ha ha ha take it or leave it but i wouldnt waste my money on a warn line.

    here it is again
    http://www.customsplice.com

I replaced my steel line within weeks of winning my winch at the toytec event, haven't had to use it EVER. oh well guess i fall into that poser category :D id rather have it and never need it than not have it and really need it though so :p

i will say that it was one of my most expensive winnings ever because after i won said winch i needed a bumper to put it into ha ha ha

So I'd have to order the winch by today. Think I'm gonna go with the VR10000 for $430. I haven't had much chance to look into winches a whole lot. Think it'd be good for "budget/emergency" winch?
