While I was standing there he looked at the part numbers for the recent revision TSB, crossed referenced them, then said it shows a new 3-leaf that has different spring rates than the one on my truck (TRDOR4x4). When I questioned him, the tech took me out to HIS truck that he had done the TSB on and yes IT was 3-leaf. Jumping on his truck I could definitely tell the difference than mine. WTF??? I thought the 4-leaf pak was what the TSB called for. Has there been a change?

    Too few to list.
I believe Toyota tried to revise it with a letter code at the end of the part numbers. It was either G or F which is what I had but I still pushed for the 4 leafs.

Part numbers are all that matter. If you have the part numbers that need replacement- They need to order the the right part numbers on the TSB.

It doesn't matter if it has three or four really- Just matters that the part numbers match before and after to the TSB paperwork.

Just dropped my 2010 off this evening to have it done. Will pick it up tomorrow and let everyone know whether the replacement was 3 or 4 leaf.

Kinda nice! For a loaner, they gave me a white 2010 a/c, sr5, 4.0, automatic......with fewer miles than mine has!

It certainly matters if the 4 pak will carry rated weight and help stop this ocean motion better than a 3-pak.

I had my '10 model (mfrd in 10/09) done last week and it had 3 leafs before the TSB was done, it now has 4 leaves afterwards.

Point was being hung up on HOW MANY leaves is pointless....You need to look at part numbers and make sure those are right. You could have 11 leaves made out of tinfoil and it wouldn't work...Or 2 leaves made strong and arched high for lift and a great ride all at once.

I don't like casting aspersions on peoples character that I don't know....but what are the chances that tech doesn't even know what the TSB is or doesn't care about your truck getting what it needs and told you his springs were the TSB springs anyways...Without checking his part numbers- You can't know.

True - I can't know. But I did jump up and down on his truck then on mine; to me, subjectively, there was a good bit of difference - and I could see that he had standard shocks. Who knows if any any of these guys really care - I would like to think so but...

My TSB on my 09 was done and I have 4 leafs. If you really want to clarify this shoot Benca1 a email and ask him. His dad owns the dealership.

    Another Positive Rear Spring Experience
Just got my 2010 2WD A/C, 4-banger back from the dealer. Got the 5K mile maintenance done and........the Harsh Ride TSB done.....

They went beyond the 2nd rev to the TSB, which called for replacing only the rear springs and not frame/body bumpers or any shocks....here's what I got:

    1. Replaced 3-leaf springs with 4-leaf springs (48210-04570 and 04210)
    2. U-Bolt (90117-A0005) (X4)
    3. Spring Bumbers (48341-04080) (X2)
    4. Shock Set (48510-09U50) (X2)
    5. Shock Set (48530-09Q40) (X2)
    6. Complete 4 wheel alignment.

I had also mentioned the reduced air flow output when the heat selection was all the way up (high)....they didn't change the damper out as prescribed in the TSB, because I didn't mention the TSB....just complained about air-flow. Well they replaced the blower motor and blower sub-assembly. I will take the TSB for the Heat/HVAC with me for the 10K mile visit and see what they do.

Dealership is in Old Saybrook, CT....Lorensen Toyota. And......the loaner I got was a 2009 Taco A/C, 4.0 Automatic.

Guess what was on the floor? You got it! Tacoma all-weather floor mats...and they never moved the two days I drove it. I asked about getting some, but....told they couldn't sell them...........

They also washed and vacuumed my truck....

I am new to the site, but have been reading for @2 years; i just had my rear springs replaced with 3 leaf (dealer mistake) ,went home called toyota corp. 800# to confirm part numbers in tsb; i was right; 4 leaf with rh spring #4821-04570, lh spring #48220-04210, u-bolt #90117-a0005 , got a ref#. And to call dealer.
The dealer "prestige toyota of kingston,ny was the best no problems. New springs ordered and installed in about a weeks time. Also replaced a fl drive shaft with torn boot, no questions asked.
In hand i had copy of tsb with ref.# from corp. On complaint on too soft rear springs, etc. And ref.# on second call to corp. To confrim part #, and 3 leaf vs. 4 leaf.
I will say the 4 pack rear with eibach front with stock trd shocks improved ride and cornering on my 07 dbl cab offroad in speedway blue, snowbear plow, custom trac rack sys.,firestone destination at 265/75-16 (corrected speedo).

I am looking at a 2010 Pre-Runner with 25,000 miles on it. I believe the truck has the 3 leaves on it. If I bought the truck how much is it to add a spring or can it still be taken to toyota for that TSB work? Thanks

    None yet.
I am curious about this TSB. Even if the truck is out of warranty will the TSB still be covered by Toyota?

    ^Nope.

Is your truck a Canadian model? If so, it should be post-TSB already.
