Not being picky, but it's been scattered all over this forum in a ton of threads from the start, but we should at least strive to 'represent' when it comes to technical talk.

Mostly safety oriented stuff from what I gleaned. Collision braking assist, "eyesight" stuff maybe. This would probably be stuff they will have to change to meet upcoming regulations I would guess. Bad transmissions, diffs, hoods and even engines can be replaced, but electrical gremlins scare me, given how complex newer vehicles are.

Thank you, and, as an Electrical Engineer myself, I agree wholeheartedly with your last statement.

My new transmission is ordered. FYI to the community: three Japanese engineers flew in to analyze my transmission. Upon reviewing my observations and analysis of my transmission, one of the engineers said I was "in tune" with how the truck works. Also, my transmission will be studied, and...... wait for it.... there will be a new transmission reflash in the future.

I have the same issue with the shift flare. Been through the whole ordeal with service dept. and Toyota case mgr. I am following this thread with the hope that a fix is in my future.

Which gears are flaring? Has your dealership been able to record the flare with their diagnostics computer? They will need the recording for evidence.

Damn hippy. You should be driving an old VW bus and selling all natural herbal products out of it. But strangely enough...I actually agree with your entire post. Good advice, my friend.

I think you missed the sarcasm Arailt's post. o_O

With all due respect to your friend...how would he know? I was a service advisor for years at a large GM dealership. I had 5 damn good techs working on my team, 2 of them ASE Masters. Not one of us was privy to much secrect info. Sure...once in awhile a regional advisor might pop in for something and shoot the shit with us and might say..."well, I heard that such and such was going to happen"....blah blah blah. Most of it was horseshit.

A cashier at Wal-Mart more than likely could not predict some product change the company has planned. And by that, I mean the service arm of the manufacturer is at the opposite end of the company than the design, engineering arm. They do not speak directly with one another. They are too far away from each....literally and figuratively. Problem reports, warranty claims, recalls info, TSBs, note items, etc might flow between them. That's it.

So this is pure speculation by your friend.

3rd to 4th. Not positive if they recorded it but I have on my phone many times. Service and the regional tech has acknowledged my problem but nothing further yet. Less than 5k on the truck.
