OK here's something fun. I dialed the number posted here for Gulf States Toyota. I described the problem, AND THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Right back where I started from. Now is this a run-around or what?!

I talked to the CS Rep at the dealer this time, Patrick Ogbeide. HE said he'd get back to me by 5. I asked him to get the Regional people involved.
    We'll see.
I'm still amazed that no other Texas Edition owners have spoken up here.

2 months ago, my boss was in the same boat, but with a Texas Edition Tundra (same tires/wheels). He just sold the thing and got a Subaru Forester (09') instead of dealing with it. He didn't like the Tundra much anyway. He is the only other person I know of that has delt with this issue.

    :sorry:

I had to call Patrick at 5:45, but he did say he was trying to contact Regional and get some more input on the situation. He's got my entire service record to send them- I asked him to send me a copy of everything he sends them- and I hope to hear from him today. if not I'll follow up Monday.
These rims can't be the cause- too many Texas Edittions, TSS models, X-Runners, etc use them .

I followed up today, and Patrick Ogbeide told me I was SOL. Gave me a name - James Smith- who is the contect between Gulf States and the delaer, and this man is the one that declined fixing my truck after discovering the tires were cupping. I called Gulf States Toyota again, I got routed to a man named Bill New, who is out of the office travelling. I left him a voicemail with my name and numbver asking him to call me about a problem with a truck that no one wants to support. I hope he calls back. Attorneys might have to get involved.

OK! SO I tried calling back, this time I got a field tech rep named Dave Staba, who walked me through what has to be done next. He told me a couple things:

    1. Those rims are not the problem. It's either an alignment, suspension, or tire inflation problem. ( I note that all three of these areas fall under the dealer's responsibility, because the tires are nitrogen-filled and I visually inspect every weekend for under-inflation and never see any ).

    2. If the TOYOTA DEALER ( Toyota of Lewisville, Rene Isip) won't stand behind the Michelin tires, then the MICHELIN dealer might.

So the plan is to get an alignment spec printout from my last alignment check from the dealer, and take it to a Michelin dealer. If the TOYOTA dealer tries to charge me for it, I'll tell them they have to supply it because they are denying warranty work because of it. If they don't have one, they'll have to get another one . I'll also need a copy of the service record that says they replaced all four tires, as the one that I have DOES NOT LIST ANY SUCH CHANGE, even though there was one. And they'll have to foot the bill. Once I have the alignment printout, I wil do a tire tread depth check, and a pressure check, and bring all this info to the tire dealer. If everything is in spec according to the book, then it's probably the tire compound.

Overall, so far, the dealer has been very uncommunicative. They gave me no options, they basically told me that I had to live with it, it was the rim offest causing it, it was not their problem, it was normal for these trucks with these rims, it was happening with almost everyone- they lied to me at every turn. They haven't provided me with any recourse, I've had to find options myself. When I ask for contact information they claim they have none or it's against company policy to give out that information. When I ask for other options they say there are none. Every single time I've heard that, it's been a lie. I'm not at all happy with anyone at that dealership any more now that Phil Pratt works elsewhere. Except maybe Selena Coffman, she does her best with what her 'superiors' tell her she can do. I'm definitely changing dealerships at the earliest opportunity. I hope that lifetime oil change card is transferrable to another dealer.

Guess what I'm doing this weekend, instead of workin in the garage?

Might be time to call a news crew and have them show up with you at the Dealership. That might just get their attention. Good luck man and keep us informed, please.

No update. Havingt trouble even getting the dealer to supply me with an alignment printout, much less a copy of the tire warranty. Getting more upset as the days go by.

Glad I didn't buy a Texas Edition Tacoma. I looked at one in Longview too..but the price was too high.

Sounds like a crock of shizzzzzit. Small claims court?

No, I'll get the alignment readout from them and a copy of the warranty, eventualyl. I think they have to supply it. If they won't give it to me then they'll give it to REgional.
    Or my attorney.

Thing is, I don't think it's a texas Edition problem, because it uses the same wheels and tires as the TSS does, and other 20-inch rim packagesd exist too, like the XC-Runner. Them blaming the package is a cop-out.

Update: They didn't save a copy of the alignment spec. Tom offered to put it on teh machine the next morning but I couldn't get there before the rush started. So I'll have to have them do it some time this week.
I'm getting very tired of fighting. About to get laid off and it's not like I have the energy for this!

Looks liek I give up. I can't believe they'd put rims on a vehicle that reduced the life of the tired by 70 percent, but that's what they did. I'm shopping for some decent 18's that I like.
    Fuckers.
