The only three tires that are suitable for deep snow are the duratracs (suck) the KO2's (have been awesome so far in everything including very deep snow) and the coopers (which I wanna try next and @Reh5108 likes them)

    lol, not quite.
More of...why do they vary by such a tiny, useless, amount and why don't they make the size I want.
    I want a true 34" dia, a sidewall of 11" and a tread width of 10". I don't think that's too much to ask :)

Absolutely. Mine matches the diameter, but is narrow and really light.
Honestly, not sure my swing out can handle a full size spare. The life preserver size is fine for now.

Always amazed at how people love the KO2's. BFG makes the absolute worst tire on the planet.
Not giving you shit btw, just my opinion. :)

    Called Discount again.
255-85/16 for $214.00 each. And they are actually taller than the 305's. Pretty sure I'll place the order later on today.

The duratracs did great on the snow run that you were on plowing through fresh deep ass snow. And all the other times i got them out in the snow.

The only time i had an issue was Yankee hill when i was 5th in line on climbs and by then there was no snow, only packed ice. Chains or studs would've been the only help in that situation.

The other issue is they have too much grip on the snow and it takes the fun out of sliding in the snow, since the taco doesn't have the power to powerslide.

34" tire minus 2x11" sidewalls leaves 12" for the wheel I think.

    These are dimensional measurements
    34" diameter.
11" center casing, meaning how wide is the center bulge.
10" tread, width of the actual footprint on the ground.
Rim size could be anything you want.

Ok... So i went to swap out the winch line...

    1001161035_zpsfkndkj2o_9b2ec99b3ba97d817d3dbc9def80c60a29919c3e.jpg

It's been used the first time to initially tension the line. Slightly uphill, no brakes.

Second time was the recovery on Yankee hill... But when i was pulling, i didn't pull in a lot without letting it rest.

Any time the line has been pulled out, i flip the lever and pull it free spool. Basically all the line touching the drum is somewhat meltedo one side.

    Any thoughts?

Flattened area is about 10 feet of it.

Guess they've really improved them. Never really wheeled the old ko's, but I guess you never know until you try!

Realistically from what I've heard from nearly everyone is that the duratracs are good until about half life, then they just completely go to crap and because super noisy.

It's because there's no heat shielding. We found that on ours as well on the crawler. I don't find it a major issue, but I'd just not unspool it far enough to get to that point. We've done some hard pulls with ours, it ended up just pulling apart since it got dry rotted in a different area, before the melted part ever failed. We didn't know it was melted until it was unspooled completely. They do sell nicer synthetic winch lines like the WARN Spydura that has heat shielding built in. The red area.

It was blah. Nothing like yesterday morning. If I can convince my replacement LG G4 to talk to my computer, I'd put up some shots I took yesterday. Love having manual control over my phone's camera.

The only change (improvement?) was the addition of sidewall tread and the name. Tire remains the same in every aspect.

Ok cool. If only there was some shielding stuff to put over it. Maybe some exhaust wrap on the drum...but then the winch might overheat haha

At least i can remove some more EAF points by painting the fairlead black to make it blend in more.
