I couldn't be more excited that she is on the way. Silver sky metallic, and only a few short weeks from delivery. My incessant excitement has led to a lot of internet searching and shopping. I picked up a set of husky weather mats and plan to buy a set of Wet Okole seat covers as soon as the truck gets here (I'm afraid of buying before it gets here and picking the wrong option on Okole's site). Any other recommendations for what to pick up off the bat?

Yeah.. I have always been a manual fan.. and not a lot of automatics out here anyways. The dealer says "Automatics are for fat westerners who never learned to drive", one of the quirks of being over in Germany.

Actually automatic transmissions came out for WWII veterans that weren't able to use the clutch or drive with both feet!

I know this cause my father couldn't drive a car until the automatic transmissions became available. He was disabled - Polio took out his left leg when he was young. BTW, he never ever parked in the handicapped spots, he didn't consider himself handicapped.

OP - congrats and good luck with your new truck.

Terrible cab configuration, color and transmission choice. You'll hate it.

Well done. Same spec as my 16, only different color. 11k miles so far and I'm still happy. Give the engine about 5k miles to wake up, before that and it seems a little gutless

I assume as much, but then I make a joke and accidentally start WW3. Just dealt with someone calling me stupid on a Corvette forum because I had a question about something a dealer said that made no sense to me.

Same username? I believe I've seen you around on CF... I'm there too.

Off topic! Congrats on the new truck OP! Are you getting the truck delivered to Germany somehow?

Yep, sold my 2006 STI and bought a 99 6MT. I had my harmonic balancer replaced and it still wobbled and was told it was a bent crank. I made a post and invested further and well, you know how the internets are.

I am. They deliver to the port up in bremerhof, its about 6 hours away, but I am letting them forward it here so I don't have to deal with the customs process at the port (let the dealer eat that one).

Congrats. I ordered a MT originally and settled for an auto when I was told the wait was 6 months. Couldn't stand the auto and found an in transit MT. Took delivery shortly after and not looking back. MT is the right choice for this truck IMO.

GM first offered the automatic transmission in olds and Cadillac in 1939. They did not become common until after the war.
