haha no worries. @eccracer104 and I were thinking of hitting Otay, but either my uniball or lower ball joint is squeaking like crazy so i'm trying to find some dry lube around this city (you'd think it wouldn't be that difficult in Hillcrest, jk..) before we go. So we might just go tomorrow also, to get some pics of the trucks for the calendar contest.

I haven't done it before but I read all about it today. Very easy, great views, with offshoots if you want something more challenging

Pretty sure it's right across the street from this campground if that helps?

Those of you going to Otay Mtn, here are coords for the trail next to the RV campground: N32 39.149 W116 51.306 . Copy and paste the coords into Google Maps on your smart phone and it'll take you right to it. At the top, if you head west, you can come out near Alta Road, or head east and come out on Cottonwood Creek Rd which turns into Marrow Valley Road at the 94/Campo Rd. I heard the west end is tricky getting out because Border Patrol gated the main trail, but you can circumvent it on a trail heading north that comes out near the County jails - if the gate is closed, follow this trail northward, then westward, N32 34.955 W116 54.845 . N 32° 36.141 W 116° 50.693 .

If you have time, stop here, N32 36.141 W116 50.693 , its the plane crash site where 8 members of Reba McEntire's band perished in 1991, as well as 2 plane crew men. I collected some of the bigger wreckage pieces and put them in a pile. Please, don't take any as souvenirs. As many times as I've visited the site, I've never taken any pieces from the site and I hope you don't either. I'm running a risk sharing this with you; please don't let me regret it. When I first discovered the site in 2007, there was a wooden cross with a photo of the crew; the cross has long disappeared.
