Melonite is probably the toughest, crome is second. For a heavy shooter, non precision barrel, I'd go with a Brownells or Midway USA house brand barrel.

Chrome's benefit is that its easier to clean, right?

Anyway, thinking about expediting my purchase of a house defense rifle, with a subsequent can.

Both of them are very hard (resists erosion and chamber wear) and corrosion resistant, so the chamber won't corrode and jam.

ETA: stainless steel gets you the second advantage, buy not the first.

I almost put one of those on mine. I really liked it but I have a freaking hard time seeing the small red dot so I went with something where I could change the reticle and make it easier to see haha

Shot the 458 socom some more today. Starting reloading for it. Shoots amazingly well. Little kick, but not horrible.

If you dont mind ordering online its pretty easy to get. Not as common as like 6.5creedmore and definitely not as available as 308/223. But still a few companies making it. Only problem.....its expensive. Expect to pay $1 plus per a round and honestly 1.50 a round plus is probably more along the lines.

BUT its a simple round to reload and you have a great selection of bullets since it uses the same bullets as 45-70. Reloading you can get the costs down a ton at ~.50 cents.

Yes if you like paying a crap ton for it. I reload my own for 1/5 the price.

Any thoughts on PSA assembled uppers? I'm looking to get a cheap AR and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them

They are fine uppers for plinking. Wont win any accuracy awards but do just fine for the price. Well built, shoot well, and have been 100% reliable though! Both my dad and I recommend them to friends and family wanting to get into AR's

The last upper I bought from PSA was not built right, and my BCM charging handle won't fit in it

    What was wrong with it?

The charging handle slot is part of the casting, that should be really hard to screw up...

Nothing functional, just simple shit that shouldn't have gotten thru QC

Dust cover didn't have clips or spring, just the rod

Can't explain the charging handle other than it would bind in the PSA upper but worked fine in another PSA upper, along with a BCM and Bushmaster upper...never thought about it since because the cheap charging handle works fine

That upper is now relegated to range use only as a pistol

Anyone got any secret deals on 223 or 5.56 ammo? I've already purchased 500 reloads from LAX ammo for $180 and I've found 100 round value packs of federal FMJ 55GR for $40 after tax at Walmart. But looking for something a little cheaper than .40 a round. Not looking to shoot the cheap wolf crap or any other steel casing.
