So it seems like everyone says the same thing on here.. I went with #### but if I had the money, I would have went with Icon. Is Icon that much of an improvement? I figure I will be about 99% pavement and 1% not... and probably never any true off roading. I am not looking at buying a setup that will let me rock crawl or the like, I want the best ride possible, and a 3" lift so I can add some things to make her look better.. I don't mind cost.. I am looking at what will be the best for the truck so that I am not wanting to replace things five years down the road.

My question: should I be saving up for Icon? Is the ride quality worth it for my intent? Suggestions? Opinions?

99% pavement... ICON is complete overkill. And digressive valving for some can be annoying on pavement. The ride from a 2.5 shock with a resi cannot be beat. So if you want the best ride you will want at leat a 2.0 or 2.5 shock with resi's. The brand new 2.5 BOSS Shocks with resi would be one place to look at. KING Shocks are awesome. You might also look at the new OME BP-51 suspension system. I hope that helps some. Oh and I sent you a PM too.

Fino, do you have the measurements on hand to share? Full extension and full compression of both shocks?

Hi Long Time TF. Here you go. Current 5100 front is only about 1/3" longer. Rears are the same.

Ran Broken Arrow forward and backwards today with no problem. ......Not a big fan of crawl control though.

Lift functioned well. Minor rubbing inside front passenger/driver fender wells.

Thanks for posting this up. I've been wondering for a long time why they recommend the 5100's with OME coils but not the stock OR's. I remember the difference only being ~1/4". Seems like just 1/2" of wheel travel difference if maxing out the shock with a long coil.

Just to clarify Bilstein has NEVER recommended OME coils on their 5100 shocks and if you do this combination chances are Bilstein will not warranty their shocks if you have an issue. However most companies that sell lifts are OK with the combination because they can somehow "warranty" the problem for you.

Also note that 1/2" difference in shock length is roughly equal to about 1" of travel at the wheel. It's not a 1:1 ratio. This applies to the front only.

Just installed 5100 at 1.75(3rd notch) and a 1 inch aal should I install diff drop kit?

1/4" difference in shock length. Equal to around 1/2" of wheel travel. I was also referring to distributors, and some TW members. Not Bilstein specifically

Sorry if this is a total newb question but has anyone run OME coils on the stock TRD-OR Bilstein shocks? I see lots of people do with the 5100's and if the valving is the same... Would the 10 millimeter travel difference between the 5100 and the stock TRD-OR make the stock shock a limiting strap at full down travel?

Edit, I see the lengths of the OME 90000 and 90021 are listed as 543mm extended and 413mm compressed so on paper the stock shock shouldn't be too short.

is there any upgrade to suspension worth doing that doesn't lift your truck?

For those running 887's with either OME struts or 5100s at lowest setting, what are your caster #s with the stock UCAs?

Got mine aligned, 5100 w/887 at bottom setting and caster is 1.8/1.5. I'm actually able to rub the stock wheel/tire setup on the mud flap. I will be getting LR UCAs but just curious what others are able to get with stock UCAs.

    Stock.
I have a question and I can't seem to find any good info when I use the search bar. I want to get the icon stage 4 lift for my truck and use the stock rims without any wheel spacers. Can I run 285/75/16s without any rubbing or is 265/75/16 the biggest I can go?

285s might still rub the Icon UCAs.

You could try 255/85/16 if you just want a taller tire.

Yea it looks like I can get bfg mud tires in that size. Is anyone running 255/85/16s with stock rims in an icon lift? If so is there any rubbing?
