I have had my 2003 Toyota Tacoma for about a year now and I was wondering if anyone had any upgrade ideas to add to give it a different look?

The first thing I did with mine was a full suspension upgrade/lift. Even if it's your daily driver, an upgraded setup makes a huge difference. I did an OME setup and gained about 2-2.5" after everything has settled and love the look. The ride quality is also infinetly better than before.

After that the sky is the limit. Between armor, lights, bed cap, rims, tires, etc there no shortage of combos/ideas. In fact the only thing you will be short on is cash, once you start it is hard to stop

What tire size did you go with after you installed your lift?

I still run the stock 265/70/16's. I plan on switching to 255/85/16's at some point, but my current tires only have like 5k miles on them so I will probably ride these ones for a while longer.

Good to know man did you have to replace your UCA's for the lift?

Another tip would be to check out some of the other members builds in the 1st gen builds section. I got alot of ideas from Box Rocket and JohnBoyTRD, but there are tons of other awesome builds on this site

No, as far as I know under 3" lift you should be g2g. They are on the list to be replaced/upgraded though, just need to pull the trigger on a set.

Hey Captain Magma, Which OME setup did you go with, who did you purchase it from and did you do the install yourself? I'm in the market for doing the same thing and was just curious about some specs.

I purchased it from Cruiser Outfitters. I gave them a call and they asked me a bunch of questions regarding my plans for the truck and made a build sheet for me, then ran through it to make sure I had everything I needed. I called/ordered right before they closed (I felt really bad, damn time difference) on a Tuesday, and everything showed up Friday. Everyone over there is top notch. They are always my first stop for OME stuff.

I am running Nitrochargers on all four corners, 881 springs up front, and Dakars w/greasable shackles and poly bushings. Honestly couldn't be happier with it.

I had @Speed Freek install it for me and he did an awesome job, great pricing, and was local to me in San Diego. I would be willing to bet there is someone local to you that could help/do it for you. Check the regional sections on here for guys advertising.

@leecamo_5 I'm with @Captain Magma on this. My first upgrades were retrofit projector headlights, lift, wheels and tires (all done by myself and a friend). I think it also will depend on what you intend to use your truck for. Happy modding!

My very first modification was blacking out the chrome, once that was out of the way it was on to suspension/tires. I think your truck would look great with some big tires and black rims. Box Rocket made that old man tan look sick. Highly recommend you check out his build.

Thanks for the info! Looking into the OEM lifts now and some new tires and wheels! I have already replaced the headlights in it but am looking to get some halos in soon.
