you were smart either way though. You rust proofed.
I always find it comical when people complain about rusting but won't do rust proofing.

The design as well as the steel composition matter very much bud, its not just the composite that makes it susceptible to rust.

Maybe if Toyota was smart they'd just look at Audi and VW and catch on, just galvanize everything.

Not bad at all, use the spray can attachment thing, makes it like a spray gun, your truck will smoke a bit if you get some on the exhaust parts which I tend to, but it'll burn off, lol. Its electrical safe, etc. If used it on all my tacomas, twice a year and hardly any rust and I live in the salt belt.

Do you have a lift you use, or in your drive way. I live in Maine and coastal, looking ahead, I see this truck being with me a long time.

Most are the people who drive it all winter, never take it to the wash. Do it for 8-10 years, and then wonder why their frames are rotted. I'm not saying Dana didn't have shitty frames, but there are plenty of people's who held up because they actually took care of their vehicle. My Philosophy is if I'm spending that kinda money on something, I'm taking care of it. Period!

In the driveway, non lifted truck and lifted, done both, plenty of room to crawl under there.

do you guys not have rust proofing shops down there?
We have them here where they will drill holes in your rocker panels (from inside the door well) and spray inside them as well with the oil rust proofing
they lift the vehicle and spray all components under the vehicle.
All steering, suspension components, all door hinges and latches. under the bonnet
basically spray a coating on everything that isn't painted to help prevent rusting.
I do it every year cost about $60 a year to do and all the cars in my family which get it done have no significant rust. Actually only rust spots are where there has been stone chips and the bare metal is showing.

Krown Rustproofing is the well known company here. I've had great results with them.

I'd shoot someone if they drilled holes. The Tacoma has holes at the bottom of the rockers. You stick the wand inside of those

    agreed 100% dude
How many owners let things sit with their vehicle saying oh I'll fix it later or something? I know many people that don't listen to their mechanics, maybe they just dont trust them or have bad mechanics. But I luckily have found a great mechanic I can trust. If he tells me I need something I do it, and guess what never had any problems with any of my vehicles. Never had to be towed anywhere (other than the one time my turbo failed)

You invest your money in a vehicle and then don't want to take care of it, yet complain when it breaks? Never understood people like that.

well they drill holes if yours doesn't have a hole to get in lol.
But if you have the holes I guess they wouldn't drill.

All my cars didnt have holes they had to drill them. They're small like 5/16th holes and they put filler caps in them once they are done. Not noticeable at all.
