A little of this and a little of that.
Today was the last MLB game played at Turner Field, aka "The Ted", home field of the Atlanta Braves. Interleague Game with the Detroit Tigers and it was a pitchers duel between Verlander and Teheran. Braves won 1-0.

No need. But as a baseball fan, I appreciate great performances. And I recognize them when they happen. Thought there were more folks here who felt the same. Not just a bunch of homers. eh

Yes I know, I was at the game. Unfortunately the dodgers didn't get the win we needed to try for the wild card. I still enjoyed myself and got to see the great likelihood of being the last game Holliday would play as a Cardinal - if even it was for one play.
(Matheny put him in after the crowd was yelling his name.)

He shed some tears when he got out there. They would have pinch hit him, but his thumb was swollen from the two previous nights of doing so.

Watched the Mariners blow it this weekend when they had the opportunity to get into the WC spot. Honestly not bad considering two of the last three years, their playoff hopes have been dashed during games 161 and 162. Year two of new GM and next year with new ownership, let's see how this goes.

Enough of my current local team, now for my favorite Rockies. Monfort and company have some work to do but there is some good promise in their starting staff with Tyler Chatwood, Chad Bettis, Jon Gray, and German Marquez on occasion. They've figured out how to draft and bring in position players and have decent stock in young starters (it seems). They need to figure out what to do with relief pitching, those guys ain't cutting it. I don't wanna hear about Coors Field and elevation - these guys suck at sea level too. Dump Weiss, Holmes, and Jorge de la Rosa. Let's go .500 next year!

Seattle finished 3 back of the Jays and Baltimore... they needed more than just games 161 and 162 but I understand your sentiment.

Honestly the Blue Jays were very lucky to get in. They plain old sucked for 90% of September and the cancer in the room with Jose teaching the team how to be a bitch is clear. Hopefully they can get things turned around for the WC game but I have a feeling that Gibbons will mess things up in the late innings again and the entire team will be too worried about where the strike zone is to clutch hit to keep them in the game.

Tuesday might be Encarnacion's last game as a Jay and it's his 1000th. On the other hand I hope it's Jose's last game as a Jay. He has been clutch in the past and I like that about him but his attitude and bitching constantly to anyone who will listen to him is a cancer that TO needs to cut out. Plus 2-3 years ago he was a decent fielder. Now he's terrible in the outfield and his batting is subpar. He's not worth even close to what he wants.

I don't think elevation has nearly as much to do with baseball as people think it does. Christ, every other major team in North America playing at high altitude doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
