I found this grille guard that the guy is selling for a hundred. Has two huge holes (for lights?) and some minor rust. Drawback is I have no idea if it'll fit my Taco, it has no identifying marks, and it's about a three hour drive away. I don't want to drive that far if it won't work. He has no idea what vehicle it came off of.

    Here are some pictures:

    00l0l_jbRgGYNEGCR_600x450.jpg 00808_j8sstQz2REs_600x450.jpg 00C0C_d8aWUHZ1wNA_600x450.jpg 01717_s0aY1vlGuI_600x450.jpg 00k0k_gKWpPorUYRj_600x450.jpg

    Description states:

inside width clearance 60". Frame mounts @ 32" on center. Side sweep back is 15 degrees.

...there are four mounting holes in each "pad" right and left. The holes themselves are 1/2 x 1 left to right so there's room to fudge side to side. The outside edge to edge measurement of the holes is 3 3/4.

From rail to rail, the outside holes measure 34 1/4 o.c. across, the inside holes measure 28 5/8 o.c. The fore and aft rails of the guard are 34 1/2. side to side. The mounting brackets are off-center so it looks like they could be switched right for left for a bit more accommodation.

Looking at the last two pix, two large holes (1 1/2" maybe) were cut w/ a torch on the underside of the center horiz. rail to accommodate nuts and fender washers to install lights (apparently). The hole on the top-side of this is probably 1/2 or so, whatever the stem of the light required.
Theres' some rust here and there - nothing structural that I could see and nothing a can of satin rustoleum couldn't handle.

Forgot to say. That was the first thing I asked, turns out it came with a storage locker he bought at auction.

Not 100% sure if a brush guard bolts up the same but my Westin Bull bar mounts to the tow points under the front bumper, i can post a pic tmo. I would messure the width of the two "tow" points and go from there. For example if the points messure 10" and the brush guard mounts are 15" then it wont fit.

That would be great, if you could get the length between the mounting hole to mounting I'd really appreciate it. Some pics would help too!

I wasn't even sure where the grille guard would mount to. I was hoping someone with a guard installed could measure theirs and I could size accordingly. I've never fabricated anything metal before, hopefully this one is just a bolt on.

The mounts are around 33 1/2" apart

Those brackets don't look like anything that goes to a Toyota.

Since the owner has no idea what it should fit

You have no Fabrication skills as of Yet

Passing on this is probably a good Idea

Just curious, why would you want to install "front crash damage enhancer" on Tacoma? I don't think you would put all that rust for the "tough look". :puke:

I work on farms during the summer and there's lots of bump vehicle gates. It saves a lot of time to just drive through them with the guard than getting out and opening them manually.

Don't do it. Buy one made for your truck. Just looking at the mounts I can tell it's not for a tacoma

So I took a gamble on it, took the 150+ mile round trip up from the boonies of NorCal (Rohnert Park) and picked it up. It didn't fit when I tried test fitting it (I realized later the two hooks were in the way), took a gamble, and took it home. After spending 2+ hours trying to get the rusty tow hook bolts off, a trip to Harbor Freight for a Breaker Bar, and a trip to Home Depot for penetrant oil, it fit on perfectly. Two of the holes on each side are unused obviously, but it looks like the original owner used only two mounting points on each side as well. Saved about 200-300 by grabbing this instead of one made for the truck. I was fully expecting to have to weld and fabricate my own brackets.

Thing with those is they are so very close to the lights

I hope your first Bump gate does not take out the head lights

There's a good 2-3 inches of clearance. I mounted it as far forward as the brackets allowed. Tightened the bolts to high hell with a breaker bar. It won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I tried to see if it would move at all, it wouldn't budge. It would shake the whole truck if I tried to shake or provoke the guard at all.

Those sort of smaller inner bars come off with screws too, I can always take them off.
