@Ryan.orr87 - Yeah I was wondering why there was so much traffic coming from that direction that day. My girlfriend had dragged me out for apple picking and we were on our way back to my buddies house just off Berlin Tpke.

@chiefcrunchy - Wasn't me. Guess I have a doppleganger around here. Did they have a Bestop too? Been driving the rental F-150. Trucks alignment is pretty fucked + no headlight.

@Coot83 - I'm navigating the muddy waters of insurance at the moment. I got a quote from State Farm that includes a new fender, headlight, grille, and all the bumper stuff. I need to find a shop that will work with me on this. I'm sure they won't be thrilled at the lost opportunities to make money on selling me the bumper parts/labor. Hopefully I'll find someone that's willing to work with me on it kinda piecemeal. I'd fix it myself, but I'm shit when it comes to bodywork. Mechanically I got it, but bending things back into place so that everything lines up again? Not my forte. I would only need the drivers side fender; If you're interested in selling it individually and it makes more sense to buy it from you than the bodyshop i'm definitely interested.

@fatfurious2 - Doing my research led me to many people saying the same about Headstrong. I think i'll get in touch with them but they're out of the office until Wednesday.

I'll definitely be tackling the lift myself. I've always wrenched on my own stuff, though it's mostly small cars like Miata's, RX7's, Subaru's, tiny old british shit. It'll be a bit before the parts are here and the truck is out of the body shop for the few things that need to get fixed there. I would very much appreciate some people with experience lending some advice. I've got a garage, tools, and plenty of beer for anyone willing.

I also would love to check out some of the armor and skid plates you guys have on your trucks. I run a fabrication shop in Chantilly and have been meaning to make some skid plates and rock sliders for a while.

    Thanks guys!

Sounds good Steve, looks like you got a plan already. I bet you could scalp around on here for some parts for what you need. This could be a cool time to get some aftermarket headlights? I would rather sell them as a set. Let me know what the body shop will do as Im sure we could work something out if it comes to that. Also is your hood good to go?

@GC8Steve @Lots2Learn58 has a set of full skids that he's trying to sell. He's local to us too. Actually installing his lift at my house this coming Saturday. You're welcome to stop by. And to check out the trucks.

Keep an eye out for me on the road

I know this probably sounds retarded, but man it would kick ass if you got a WHITE top for the rear. Don't deny the super white!

@fatfurious2 I may try to come by this Saturday, if that is still alright. Probably going to be too hot to hunt. I will let you know later this week.

In other news, I was out of town this past weekend for drill and couldn't go to the gun show which I would have loved to! This bad boy came in last week, so let the build begin!

I have both and give them love equally.... I have found that the G43 handles a wider variety of Ammo than the Shield when it comes to 124 gr rounds..... I also like the higher cut grip on the 43 as well

@fatfurious2 Oh awesome that would be great to check out the lift install and get to meet some of you guys in person. I think my sister is doing a gender reveal party for upcoming kid #2 that day so I'll have to see how the schedule works out.

@Coot83 I figured you'd probably want to sell them as a set, totally understand. I'll let you know. The hood appears to be alright and isn't on the list. If it doesn't line up though, the shop can add it as a supplement to the insurance company. Trying to do some of the repair myself and having a different shop align it is turning out to be a pain. If I were to just have one shop put it back to stock it would be a breeze. But trying to get the insurance to cooperate with me complicating things with aftermarket parts/personal labor is tough. I hate dealing with this shit. I wasn't thinking about aftermarket lights but now that you mention it. And a TRD Pro grille would be nice too! Damnit! This is getting more complicated and expensive by the second lol. And of course it all goes down when i'm in the middle of remodeling my kitchen and busy as shit at work.

I only ask on the hood as I am looking to take mine off pretty soon so I will have one of those lying around as well. It would be ideal if the insurance company could just give you a certain amount of money that would meet what you need to fix your ride and then you just source out the parts. I think people are selling stock grills on here pretty often, might be worth it to make a "want to buy" list in the second gen classifieds, you might be surprised what people might have.

I went through something similar when I hit a deer. Started to try and do it myself but things started getting too complicated with the insurance company so I ended up taking it to a small, family owned shop in Purcellville. Insurance is a huge pain to deal with, but a necessary evil I suppose.

They've been pretty cool so far. The estimate was thorough and they upped the numbers a bit when I insisted on OEM toyota parts. Then they put a substantial check in the mail that I should be recieving this week to do with as I see fit. The only thing not on there are allowances for the hood and alignment, because they wanted a shop to tell them what would be required to make them correct. I also forgot that my Stability control light is on. So that'll be an add too I imagine. Hopefully just a wheel speed sensor.

Yeah insurance is just a pain all around. But i'll play the game as needed to make this thing better than when I started. We'll see how it goes. The rental they provided changes everything. Having a truck still for work and such is crucial. Gives me time to figure this stuff out.

Where at in Chantilly is your shop? If you started making products, you would probably have some local buyers around. We have Mobtown in southern MD that makes some great stuff, but another local would be sweet. Seems like most of the fabricators are all left coasters and shipping kills a lot of deals.

To expand on that, would you be able to describe a little of what your fabrication shop can do? I am actually looking to get some fab work done, would be nice if you guys deal at all with spring under conversions.

I need someone with a lift so I can coat my under carriage with fluid film before winter. I know there was a place over in sterling that had lift rental but they went out of business...
