Time to call a few shops to get pricing on getting my new wheels (to me) put on!

Got 7 to call, all around here in town.

 

Took me a little bit to post the pics but I added a rod holder to my truck. Got tired of them banging around the bed. Just some PVC and a Dremel and fits under the tonneau cover no problems.

 

So you break the rod in half and toss it in there?

 

LOL. No most of my rods breakdown to two or three pieces. makes it easier to get to the hard to reach fishing spots. Not to say i've havent shut a rod or two in the tailgate.

 

I've been looking for an easy way to transport me and my buddies 4 piece rods or a quick spot to throw them when unloading the boat. I like your idea but it looks like multiple rods in there would be a tangled mess?

 

I used my camper shell clamps to attach my fly rods and made myself some brackets for my other rods. I currently have 6 rods in the back of my truck and they don't take up any bed space. If the link doesn't work I have pictures posted on my profile page.

Got some pricing to get the wheels mounted. Had a total of 8 places on the list, dealership included.

Our BJs has an auto center. Called twice and got no answer, so guess they are S.O.L even if they are the cheapest.

Prices range from about $110 total to $209.00 total. Before tax of course since I just took down prices before tax, and would be for mounting+balancing+alignment.

 

Can we get details on bed light wiring? I want to do the same with the dome light and a tailgate switch!

 

You really need alingment? Around here it is around 80$ to take off wheels from rims and put them+ balancing on new one. If your truck ride straight and there is no unusual wear on your old set I don't think you need to have it align... But that's my opinion

 

These little bastards are heavy. Drove from Houston to San Antonio (230 miles), and got 12.7 mpg running 80 mph the majority of the way. This is my first time towing with the recall springs, they ride rough with a little load. Overall, not impressed with them. I may be looking into a Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL.

 

Yesterday installed ALL and strut spacers. Today I had KO2's mounted.
The tires were a need, so I went with the ones I wanted. My plan is to do a proper suspension upgrade
in the spring, but this will get me through the wintee, and I'll do struts and coils next.

 

I don't think I do, but to be honest with you I'm picky about stupid stuff like that, so I figured I'd ask for the price of it just in case. That way, if they say I need it it's already factored in the price I'm going to expect, if not then even better!!

 

That looks pretty nice! I'd like to run mine through the window into the cab so they don't need to be taken apart - temporarily of course when moving from location to location. I don't like the looks of the roof top mounted ones nor do I want a permanent thing like that on my roof.

They are. Maybe I didn't use the right word to explain what I needed on here, but each place I called I explained what I needed.

I basically asked if they put them on the truck and took the current ones off, since I already have the tires on wheels, asked if they balanced (just in case) and aligned (just in case).

 

Seems you could save some money by changing the wheels yourself, then taking the truck in to have the tires balanced if needed. It's not hard to do.

 

Yeah... problem is time isn't really a friend of mine. I know it sounds stupid, but with two little kids (2 year old and 7 month old), plus work, plus the nightly routine to put the kids to bed, etc, it's hard to do. Maybe one day, when they're a bit older and don't need as much attention/monitoring I'll take a crack at doing it myself.
