In a collision hard enough to breach the cab (side impact) no. Little to no protection. Most skin is just for looks. Frames, reinforcement bars, crinkle zones and air bags do most of the work.

Trust me, I have taken many classes in and done many extrications in my dept. Steel folds away like a beer can just the same as aluminum in most cases. Actually aluminum might make it even easier to get to the actual stuff we have to work on to pull your loved ones out faster in a bad event.

Does this mean you won't go flying unless airplanes are made out of steel?

Vehicles have been made out of aluminum for decades. It's almost as if some people think it is some magical new thing that no one knows how to use.

65.6% after 36 months and 52% after 60 months for an F150, 9th best vehicle
    74.9% after 36 months and 60.8% after 60 months for a Tacoma.

So yea, the tacoma is best but the F150 isn't really that bad.

The F150 resale is actually quite good considering the sheer volume produced.

It's not like the Tacoma where you may have to search out a used truck that fits your needs.

There are literally thousands of used F150s out there and the used car dealers have to compete on costs.

I wish the Tacoma was made from aluminum.

But I do not use it in a utility fashion either.

According to kbb 3rd place in full size was GMC Sierra at 50.4% after 60 months for 2016. Your figures don't add up.

I don't know bro, what I don't get is why midsize truck owners care so much about a full size truck unless they are looking into getting one. I also don't get why aluminum being used in a vehicle is so revolutionary for some people. It's not and I'm almost positive an aluminum f150 crew cab/super cab is safer then a steel taco. I'm also 100% sure that the coyote motor in the f150 is a lot better then the 3.5 in the taco.

Did anyone else notice that toilet paper rolls are like a 1/2" narrower then they used to be?

I know, but it makes as much sense as this thread does to folks coming here for information on their 3rd gen.
