Im bringing my 2016 2wd sr5 purchased in June into the dealership on the 5th. The truck only has 1050 miles on it. Im going to have them change the oil. What I'm wondering is, if I should have the transmission TSB done and the fluid level checked? I have noticed no issues but I also don't really know what I'm supposed to be looking for.

If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I have read where some like it before the TSB was done on the tranny. I would absolutely make them check the granny fluid level.

Edit: it's Grandpa's job to check granny's fluid level, have the dealer focus on your trucks tranny fluid, and no not the trans fluid

Ya unless you make specific requests at that first service it will be their "Sunshine Special" open the hood and let the sunshine in and that's about it. Actually when you think about it what more would they do at this point with that kind of mileage I guess

Yeah that is what they did on my 6 month check up. I asked them to check the rear U-bolts for torque and grease the U-joints. Found out no zerks on the 2.7 2WD. So there was not much for them to do. I told them not to fill the windshield washer fluid but they filled it to the cap anyway. And not to rotate the tires. (That is what tire shops are for) I'm not going back unless the truck needs something serious. Going to buy Mobil oil and filter at Walmart then take it to the local shade tree mechanic once a year for the oil changes.

Wait. You took your truck to the dealer and asked them to grease your u-joints that cant be greased, you told them not to rotate your tires, you told them not to fill your easily refillable fluids....so....why did you even go to the dealer?

You basically took your truck to the dealer for your 5k service and told them not to do your 5k service. I wouldn't go back to the dealer either if you're just going to show up and ask them not to do your maintenance:rofl:

I would do whatever it takes to keep my warranty without any issues.

    I never knew the 2.7 2WD didn't have zerts..

Why have them beat my lug nuts up with there worn out impact wrench sockets when the truck didn't even have 1800 miles on it?

It was a 6 month check up just to see if the nuts/bolts were still tight is what the original dealership I bought the truck from. I went to a different dealership for the check up.

Oh and for as the tech filling my windshield washer fluid tank to the top.. I took my jiggler hose and siphoned seemed like 3 gallon of blue liquid out on the ground. Not a problem. 1 gallon is plenty of washer fluid. Oh wait, maybe they put 3 gallon in the tank to even out the Taco lean. (Never thought about that.)

Glad I was able to brighten your day with a good laugh.

My warranty is the only reason Im bringing this truck to them. They slapped an oil change sticker on the window that said Oct. I called and made the appointment, after she collected all my info she asked why i was bringing the truck in with no problems and 1000 miles. I told her I have no idea but I didnt put the sticker saying Oct. on my window either.

I don't remember what the sticker said. I tore mine off the windshield before I drove it off the lot. I keep that information wrote on a file card in my sun visor organizer. I do remember them telling me to get my oil changed once a year because I would not have no where near the suggest oil change miles.

    There you go. No worries.

I may change my mind and take mine in for the oil changes. Just hope that tech cuts his finger nails because he put a bunch of scratches in my door handle cups.

DUDE what is the deal with fingernails scratching up car interiors? I have never seen that before until the last new car we bought. We actually tested several interior options until we found one my wifes nails wouldn't scratch. It was weird she was like "my nails just scratched that plastic." I was like "you are nuts". Nope sure enough just getting out scratched up the doors.

I owned a 2015 Chevy Colorado for 6 months before I bought my Tacoma. It was real easy to scratch the interior no matter where you touched. I had never seen anything like it.

Another question i have to ask is, should I mention the CPS sensor? I tow live animals and would hate to have that happen. In the desert when its 104, at least its cooling off now.

Ok that I definitely will agree with. I had a few scratches going into the dealership from some offroad stuff, but I came out of the dealership with many more. All along the roof too.

Yeah I still may not take my truck back in for the oil change next month. Here with the local mechanic I can drive into the bay and watch him change my oil then back out and pay him. I can still add the service information to my trucks service record on Toyota.com
