hmm recently had a 6" procomp lift installed with 18x9-12 4.5bs fuel Mavericks 295/70r18 mastercraft mxt's. I've had them balanced 3 times in the past 2 weeks. I get a steering shake @ 45mph-60mph but only sometimes... just took it down the smooth hwy. shook at 55, turned around and came back down the same hwy, didn't shake at 55. Anyone ever experience this? Is it maybe the way the wind is hitting the tires making it shake since it only does it sometimes??? Thanks

Thanks, not really. I had federal couragai's before and never could get them balanced right so it always shook. I'm thinking maybe since I'm higher now and the front is so light that the wind catches it at times.. idk

I honestly feel like I have some shaking of a sort at times. I'm on a stock tire size also.

In your case it could be a number of things and I'm really not sure what they could be specifically. Guys on here chase down these things a lot and they will chime in.

My truck was doing the same thing recently. Would usually shake at 50 mph, sometimes 60. Got the tires balanced and it went away. You mentioned you got your tires balanced already. Did they use a road force balancer? I've heard that can make a difference.

Also some brands of tires just don't balance very well. My neighbor is the manager at a tire store and says some brands/models are a pain in the butt.

Yeah, my truck does the same thing and i'd guess the reason it does it some times and not others is because the wheels are probably so slightly out of balance that you only get the shake when both wheels mis-balance are "in phase." When they're out of phase they cancel each other out. I'll bet it only shakes as long as you continue to go straight - as soon as you start to corner a bit it probably goes away... (at least, that's what happens in my truck)

Also, fwiw, i understand it's harder to balance a wheel with a high-profile tire (like my 255/85-16's) than low profile as the weights are attached so much further towards the center of the wheel (relatively).
