Got to use my tent for the first time this last weekend. My wife and I were both amazed at how comfortable that this was to sleep in. You can probably tell from the pictures but I didn't do anything with the fly, just left it as it came out of the box. I can only assume that is why I woke up to water dropping on my face early in the morning? Does anyone use any sort of guyline during heavy wind/rain?

There are straps at the upper corners that need to be attached (like the center one) to keep the rainfly where it's supposed to be.

Hey guys, figured I'd share a quality of life improvement I made to my RTT with awning entry. I'm only 6' tall, but I can imagine that taller guys may have an even more challenging time ducking and climbing into a RTT with an awning entry. I had trashed a worn out tent and kept the old poles for whatever project may come up and turns out I had a use for them under the awning entry. This getup gives more headroom when climbing in and out, and also keeps rain or snow from pooling up on the awning between the frame bars.

    20161001_122823.jpg
First I set up the tent and kept the awning fairly loose to avoid stressing the fabric when applying pressure from the fiberglass tent poles.

    20161001_122855.jpg
I removed the aluminum awning support bar and drilled a couple holes at an angle to allow the fiberglass tent poles to rest in. This picture shows the support bar reinstalled with a tent pole end installed.

    20161001_122903.jpg
The span of the fiberglass tent poles lifts the awning in the center without applying too much pressure to the fabric, but then I had to keep the fiberglass tent pole from sliding toward or away from the door...

    20161001_122956.jpg
A smaller fiberglass pole got used to slide over the aluminum cross bar and larger fiberglass tent pole and it keeps everything taught and stationary. The smaller pole has rubber caps to keep it from fraying the tent.

    20161001_123030.jpg
Finished product from the outside... if you do something like this be sure not cinch down your awning guys till you set the poles up, and don't stretch the fabric too much! The fiberglass tent poles fold up and store with the metal prop rods that came with the tent. It's much more comfortable to put on shoes from the entry or carry gear in and out during a downpour now.

The black webbing hanging on the side of the tent in the photo, just to the lower left of the CVT logo, should be paired up with a buckle thingy.

Got a question for you guys with a tepui. Anybody upgrade the exterior straps that go over the cover? The velcro straps are pretty shitty and constantly come undone going down the highway. Anybody upgrade to a buckle type strap?

I've never had mine come off... but they are wearing down after a year of use. An upgrade would be nice.

I'm thinking about doing ratchet straps and just fixing the ends to the tent like the straps currently are
