    I've used Gaia in poor service areas. It sort of works, but if I made a track and zoom in it looks like a drunk person was doing donuts along the trail rather than following a steady line lol

    My old nexus7 works great after it gets a gps lock. But if you try and start gps after you're in bfe, that takes a while.

    Some tablets/phones have an actual gps and others rely on the cell service.

    Thats probably the issue... I've had zero issue with multiple android devices, old and new keeping correct gps tracks down to a few feet with the simple free mytrails app and pdf maps, biking apps, etc.

    Used Garmin Montana for the win, used on 4 different motos inclding a dirt bike, and in the truck. Super accurate GPS. Bought it used 3-4 years ago and it's still going strong. I've replaced the battery pack for $20.
