    nothing cool
Between my dad and I we've had so many Rangers. We had an 87,88,89,93,95 and finally my 2004 Ranger. My 93 and 04 Ranger were the only 4x4s. We must have gotten the rare ones because we never had a single problem with any of them ever. We ran a small painting company so they were perfect for our needs.
Of course we never off-roaded of ran them hard. Just normal driving with paint supplies in the back. I traded my 04 Ranger for my Tacoma because I needed the room with my family. If the Ranger had the 4 door option I probably would have at least considered it when I moved up in size.
I'm down here in the Philippines for the last 3 weeks and the diesel ranger is pretty nice.

I was getting that ugly feeling of regret in the pit of my stomach and my palms started to sweat! I was like what the hell is happening!? So I stopped signing the paper work right away lol. I backed out. Just didn't have a good feeling about it. And it was a good deal I was getting also. I just can't let the taco go. My only real issue right now is the buzzing vibration in the steering wheel. Happens when the rmp's are at 1900-2100. Really annoying when going over hills. That's the only time I hate the truck though.

I may be game for something my 2010 is almost paid off and Toyota is not going to build a more powerful tacoma.
And they will probably 3.5 the runner, grrrrrrrrr.
So if they actually release this I'll ck it out..
Suppose to have a jeep frame and engine so it will be easy to mod out.
    But adding a Ford.........:(

Can't Toyota just give me a V8 Tacoma so I can call it a day. or I just get a supercharger.....Hmmmm

Over here in Europe we have seen what the next iteration of Rangers are looking like.. the tonka truck style plastic nonsense is the reason that I came over to the Tacoma.. Now don't get me wrong, over a decade with my Ranger and I have no complaints. But this new direction Ford is taking them is just flat out hideous.

The Ford Everest has been in production for a few years now. Sold in China and other southeast Asian countries. It's the size of an Explorer.

In my opinion, Toyota just needs to quit resisting the idea of a diesel option in the Tacoma. The Canyon and Colorado have it (181hp, 369 ftlbs tq), and the Nissan Frontier will probably be getting a 2.8 litre Cummins :bananadance: (200hp, 350 ftlbs tq) in it for 2018, when it is redesigned. The torque range would be down low where everyone complains it is missing, and the mileage would probably be 30mpg or better. I read the GDE tune being developed on the diesel Colorado is getting 38 mpg on their city driving circuit . The Ranger will probably have a diesel version also. Priced a diesel Colorado z71 4x4 with midnight package, bose sound at 39,318 OTD but it is not offered with a 6 speed manual and does not look as good as the taco. If Toyota wants to remain on top they are going to have to offer a diesel variant, or they may no longer own the mid sized truck market come 2020.
Toyota Taco+6 speed manual+diesel motor=take my money now

I had a 87 or 89 ? Ranger 2.3L 4 cyl. 5 spd manual . If I remember right it was less than $5000 new (maybe it was less than $8000 ?) The only thing I did not like was the rear end diff. had a really high gear , something like a 2.73 or something like that. Both 4th and fifth gear were pretty much useless for all but a flat or downhill road. Otherwise it was a nice truck for the money.

I really don't get the infatuation with a diesel in a small truck. Higher initial cost, more maintenance, more expensive maintenance, higher cost when things go wrong, more expensive gas..... towing will be limited by the size of the truck more than the powertrain..... I don't see the point in a truck of this size. At least not in the US.

I think most want the diesel in a midsize due to the perceived mpg and longevity benefits.

But for a certain few, it's wanted Because, Diesel...

My Ranger was awesome. Definitely less problematic than my Tacoma.

There were some really good years around the mid 90s to early 2000s as far as long lasting goes. They went forever, but they were tiny, uncomfortable, etc. Then they got super expensive for a mediocre truck which is why they lost favor IMO. I am guessing the new ones will be super expensive for a mediocre truck as well, but who knows.

I am all for Toyota choosing to not sell this here, but I am beyond frustrated that domestic lobbying has made it illegal for me to go buy one elsewhere and bring it back. I can buy a Hellcat Challenger here, but god forbid that unsafe environmental nightmare of a Hilux be allowed in this country.

Heres one. Electric (fuel cell) Collie 'War Edition'. Probably cost a bit though.

Sad thing is it takes 37's to make a Collie look even remotely offroad capable.
