Yeah. The line, "What's 2A Forever mean?" makes me wanna be a smart alec and reply, "It's Alcoholics Anonymous Forever."

This thread inspired me to join after lurking for about a year. Having been blessed working in the oilfield the past 8 years, I know a thing or three about mud. Ive done some serious off roading. 25-45 degree, mile and a half (no shit) mud/snow hill climbs through the woods. Driving through fast moving, flooded creeks nearly mid door. We're not "hardcore" enough for snorkels. To driving across frozen creeks only to have all 4 tires bust through and the truck be sitting on the frame. With 2 feet of water underneath. Then we got out the sledge hammers. That wasnt very fun. To chaining 3 Tacomas (poor middle Tacoma) together to pull a service rig (fucking heavy) through the mud. And many other adventures. Been a blast. Sometimes I think to myself..."I get paid to do this?!?Hell yeah!". Anybody that works in the oil patch knows that many of these wells are in some very hard to get places. So when it rains or snows, it can get real fun. Funny thing is, we do all this off roading and serious work, on basically bone stock Tacomas. Three 4 bangers and 2 V6's. The only "performance" we add is mud tires. Thats it. Not including headache/pipe rack/receiver. We even transport 100/210 barrel oil tanks and pumpjacks with our 4 bangers. We beat the shit out of these trucks and they just keep on rolling. A true test to the toughness and dependability of the Tacoma. Just keep your fluids up to date. We've also junked and destroyed 3 chevys in the 8 years Ive been at it.

I off road on a daily basis. So I dont really wheel my personal Tacoma in the shit for the fun of it. I care about my truck too much and I want it to last 20 years. I get enough of it at work anyway. Also not out to impress anybody with how much mud I can pile on it. I laugh at the locals that go "mudding" through basically a ditch and brag about "all the mud" on their truck.

Been there and done it in a bone stock Taco. Day in, and day out, for years. So if anybody has a stock Taco (at least get mud tires!) and youre hesitant about taking it off the pavement, off road with confidence. Youll be able to follow many trucks with a laundry list of upgrades wherever they go. Just use your head and good judgement. Same as anything else. Good thread.

One last thing. Mud flaps?!? Anybody who off roads on a regular basis tears all 4 of them damn things off in about 2 weeks.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
You get used to the symphony, mines 21 years old and it makes a lot of noises but runs like a top. You get used to telling what's a good noise and what's a bad noise. I used to be super anal about my trucks health but I started to realize she's 21 yrs old and no one took care of her before me. So noises and vibrations are bound to happen. It's all shades of grey :)

Nice! They look great. I wheeled my truck without them for awhile and somehow never managed to do any damage....after I got my sliders now I hit them left and right practically every trip. Funny how that works

I figure they promote more risk taking. Which is more fun, and one of the reasons I wanted to get them.
