Do any of you guys know a company that makes and sells the quick disconnects for the sway bar on a first gen?

I see a lot of them for jeeps, but not much for tacomas anymore... Any help would be awesome!

I don't know of anyone selling them pre built an gaurenteed. But there are plenty of people who published there own "homemade"
versions. Many that have been used by others.

yep. loads of us running without a swaybar on our daily drivers. you can remove just one sway bar end link for now and feel it for yourself. it will ride quite a bit better even on the road. only takes a few simple tools to remove and put back on.

@mstudt makes them for 3rd gen 4runners - I figured since the suspensions are similar, maybe they work on 1st gen taquitos?

I make them for all 4runners, FJ's, and Tacoma's aren't much different. I also make them for Land Cruisers, Land Rovers, and Lexus (all about the same as Toyota's). I was going to wait to post something about sway bar links until the first of the year. Oh well.

I use 1/2" chromoly heim joints with nylon races on the LCA end. The middle section is 3/4" steel hex tube, with B7 threaded rod on the bushing end. I make both standard links, and disco's. The hex tubes come yellow zinc coated standard. You have the option for aluminum, hammered black, and grey tubes at an extra charge. I can also put boots on at an extra charge. Boots work well with standards, and not so good with disco's.

Standard hardware is all Grade 8 yellow zinc. I can use SHCS that are coated, black jam nuts, and black cone washers.

I've also found that most people can do away with disco's simply by going with longer links. That being said, all of my links come longer than stock, and they can be extended even longer.

You'll notice the difference right away. Not having them on the front isn't as bad as not having them on the rear. The front end has a lot more weight, and that helps to keep it more stable. The down side is that all of that weight going from side to side will wear out front end parts faster. Ball joints, TRE's, and bushings will have a shortened life.

Hmm, never realized the wear on other components from not running a front sway bar.
