Anyone have any good ideas on what to make a fairing out of for my roof rack? Also need some side panels to cover up the bolts and make it look good.
I though about plexiglass. But that's the last thing I want to break while driving down the highway.
No hardware store around me sells big enough sheets of aluminum. I've exhausted all my ideas.
Fairing will be 47"x7". And the side panels will be about 51" long I think.

Lexan, good enough for Nascar windshields

 

i was looking at some lexan. But no one has a size I need. The only size they have is 4ftx6ft... and that's way too much. And way too much money. Im just going to go with regular plexi. Is it easy to drill plexi? I imagine it would crack, just light pressure and go slowly?

 

Id start with the smallest drill bit you have and work your way up one drill bit size at a time until you have the size hole you need. If you skip one you risk it grabbing too much and cracking. I did this a few years back and watched youtube's of other people and that seems to be the consensus. Just don't drill a pilot hole and jump up to a larger bit right away it will definitely crack if you do that.

 

What about a step bit?
