Not sure if you are talking about the day time running lights not working and not sure if the 08's had this option...but check out the DTR mod in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cheap-free-mods.4838/unread
Lots of great info and mods. Go to fist page for links. @DerbyCityTaco

Fair warning.. I had the chrome Westin ones back in my teenage chrome years... they fill with water over time..and rust from the inside out..

Periodically..remove the steps and the end caps..and drain them out and sit them out to dry...

Nice steps besides the water getting trapped.

As is? They still have to sell you a fully functional truck. I'm pretty sure all exterior lighting is considered safety equipment and should be working when driving off the lot. Would you have bought it if the headlights didn't work? Oh well probably to late to take it back now. Good luck with troubleshooting.
    Nice truck BTW

I did the "fill up after 400 miles on one tank and wash the dead bugs off the windshield" mod yesterday. Things are looking much clearer now...

When i bought it, i did a full walk around with the blinkers, hazards, headlights and brake lights and all worked. It is only when the switch is in the parking lights position, the yellow lights in front dont illuminate. Minor issue to me personally but still want to track it down. Something i overlooked or i would have raised the issue to them.

Ill check out that link after work, no the issue is parking lights only while in the parking light switch position. And no there are no factory running lights i know of on the 08.
