I've admittedly never heard of any issues like this, especially given the 2016s are just a facelifted second gen, of which we have hundreds of owners running our parts here alone.

I'm not saying it's not possible. Anything is possible, but how exactly can it back feed so much to cause issues, that even the fuses can't stop? Seems very odd to me for sure.

Regardless, we'll be glad to help out in any way possible to see what the issue may be.

Really, seems to me there is more than a facelift. New motor and trans? I am sure that would include some newer electronics. I could be wrong with this, but that what seems to make sense to me.

That's beside the point. We'll still do what it takes to sort out the issues.

Well I have had my 2017 for over 500 miles and not a problem. (knock knock) lets hope that they have ironed out at least some of the mor common problems.
I had my 2 gen for 11 years and other than maint, I had to solder the compass.

Bummer if this is due to aftermarket lights...I'm following because I have the 2stroke leds in my low beams and xb led fogs in....couple weeks no problems but I'm in AZ so wet is usually not a concern...I'm sketchy now though.

I'm not gonna stick my dick any further down this particular beehive, but I looked at 05+ wiring diagrams and the headlights are handled in a completely different way...

The white wires go to the lows, Red-black to the highs, that DIM relay is a switching relay that changes between powering low beams or high beams. Not sure how much of a difference it makes, and I haven't bothered to see if the body ECU touches the engine control at all.

    PDF attached for those curious.

I think the 3rd gens are great trucks and their problems are amplified on this forum. Most people who buy those trucks have no issues at all, it's the vocal minority that make the issues seem exaggerated.

    Hey Paul,
I have already thought that for a while. If I had listened to some of these blogs I probably wouldn't have bought the new truck. I did wait on the shifting and R-D delay issues to be solved. I have nothing but respect for both of the Tacos I've owned. Hopefully the new one lasts like my 2nd Gen.

Good info! Interesting to see that the headlight circuit was changed, but it makes sense with the implementation of the automatic headlight function.

So you kept xb fogs in and went back to halogens and problems are not happening at all anymore?

Well your talking power supplies... simple to reduce and even eliminate any noise on the line with a XY capacitor. These are used in all but the cheapest craptastic PSUs. I understand the EMI thing, to get that from a power supply it would have to be the cheapest POS power supply around. XY capacitors are like less that $.05 cents probably a lot cheaper than that for a 12v PSU.

Now a 12v power supply can generate a spike in voltage on start up with a crappy power supply. It all gets down to design and cost ... you get what you pay for. I have the cheapest LED lighting from China installed and in use in our home and I don't get any noise from them. The AC on the other hand.. my neighbors AC unit generates a lot of electrical noise.

Simple basic stuff in design... Something would have to be off with the wiring but the OP sounded like he took his time and did it properly.... metal case and filtering (capacitors in the correct position in circuit).
