You can do it with channel/angle iron and bearings. Thats how the official as seen on TV bedslide people do it.
Though like most things fab related, it'll be just as expensive as retail once you've built it if you have to buy anything other than materials. I've been drooling over a bed drawer and slide system for a while now but can't justify the 4k for a nice system. My material costs look a metric fuck ton better than 4k but I'd probably still have too much into it if I ever started to build it.

 

I am intetested. Hopefully he has an extra rod?? Would like to try something out before I buy.

It's so true. Doing something custom is great if you want something specific and custom, but saving money? Forget it. I've tried to convince the missus that at my overtime rate, cleaning the gutters just isn't worth it but she doesn't understand those sort of economics

 

All this talk about GA reminded me that @JimboAnz and I went there awhile back for a wheeling trip. That's when our cherries popped
