If you get those make sure you get the 8". Also make sure the bushing end has 1/2" thread, and the rod end will need to have a 7/16" stud.

When I looked into these on my first gen (01, beware earlier differences in hardware), I first detached the sway bar ends but left the bar in place to see where/what the disconnected bar would do. If you swing it up or down, the location of the loose bar ends is concerning for potential interference with other steering and suspension components, and that was just sitting still on level ground. Under articulation, I would be very concerned about problems without carefully examining what is going on back there and finding a way to secure the loose bar ends, which did not look easy. I ended up just removing the bar and relying on my 881s, and I forgot about it after a while, but still drove a little more cautiously all the time, especially on freeway curves, etc.

 

Too many bushings. Having bushing on both ends like this don't do you any good. You'd be better off ditching the bushings on one end, and putting a heim joint on it.

The 01's and up can NOT us this style of disconnect due to CV interference. The pre 01's you're fine using disco's on since the sway can be tucked up out of the way. The disco's that work on 01's and up are a sliding style disco, and the sway bar never actually detaches from the link.

I've been making these for FJ's and 4runner's for a while now, but they do have down sides. They're noisy when disconnected, and a lot of people can't stand that. These can also wear on your ABS lines, and you'll need to route them differently. You also need a sway bar relocation kit so you don't contact the spindle. There's only one good way to disco the front on 01's and up. That requires making your sway bar itself disconnect like this.

What year is your Tacoma?

 

I was going to ask the same thing. I know the FJ suspension is very similar to the 2nd gen.

 

2006, DCSB, 4x4, TRD Off Road (not sure if that extra info makes a difference)

 

Those are the same as the 4th and 5th Gen 4runner, and the FJ. These would be the replacements that I have. Available with different color tubes, and heim boots.
