If you look at the one in Princess Anne stop by. You'll literally pass me to get there.

So i'm doing a little homework on the Bilstein 5100s and not loving what I'm reading. Anyone here experience a snap ring failure yet? There seem to be quite a few people having their trucks drop to the ground when the rings fail and the shock collapses.

Haha. Yea. I definitely DID bring it in for service. Oil change and Tranny fluid flush. Cost me about $400. They advised me that you don't need a tranny flush yet but I assured them I'd like to be proactive about it and keep the truck in tip top shape. At this point, truck is running well and I've got it in writing that the dealership changed the tranny fluid and not me. I believe It was $400 spent to protect the warranty. Case closed I hope.

Not personally but yes I too have seen many complaints.

Those shocks really are pavement princess shocks. They'll work for Offroad but won't last forever. And for a few dollars more you can go with a good Offroad shock.

Pretty much was set on 5100s set at 0 with 888 coils but not anymore. I need 3" up front, what are you guys running to achieve this? Open to suggestions at this point.

Yup.. pavement princesses I have 5100 @ 0 on 885's If I go off pavement it dirt roads. And if it's true off road I'm going low and slow to get from point "A" to point "B", not into the "4 wheeling" To much rough bouncy, bouncy and you get a snappy and an oh fucky.

I'll likely never see real off road either. I do however drive from here back home to NY regularly with my wife and 2 kids in the truck. Knowing what could happen with the 5100s puts the out of the question.

Unless you're getting the front end off the ground and bouncing the hell out of it like your running from a naked H.R.C. or something of that nature you should be fine. Anything can fail. I've seen some of the main columns collapse where it connects to the lower control arm with the ring still intact too.

But this is just my observation not trying to sell you on it.

I had the same shocks with factory springs on my 08 with 100k plus miles and no issues.

I had 5100s on my Dirty ol Dodge for +80k miles and had the big quadcab airborne (who says elephants can't fly) more than once. I did not experience the issues some are expressing. I installed 5100s recently on the Taco around 10k mile ago and this is the second truck they're under cause I bought the setup used.

I have them set at 0 with 887 coils. Probably have 30k on this setup and haven't had any problem. Mostly road use with some light off-road during hunting season.

    No, that's what I said off-topic. Lol. Bullock's is a Deli/gas station/corner store in Denton.
