Hi everyone! New to the forum but not to Tacomas. I had a 99' for 10 years and made the mistake of selling it so I could buy a 3/4 truck to haul a slide-in camper. The truck and camper were Cush but after a year I realized it wasn't quite my thing.

I made the decision 2 months ago to sell the whole rig, order myself a new Tacoma and get myself a much smaller, popup camper which is still in the works.

I can't tell you how right it feels to be back in a Tacoma. I took it on its first backroad drive today (it actually handles better than my Crosstrek lol) and as I remember, it was a dream.

I was told when I bought it that it was a rare combo for the off-road in that it didn't have any of the expensive extra packages and it was a quad cab long bed. It was actually already in order as a silver truck but I had them change the color to white...as my old Taco was white as well.

Welcome and Congrats. I got the exact same one up here in MD 2 weeks ago. I'm looking at pop-ups as well. We'll see.

    Thanks everyone!

Awesome! I always see white short-bed off-road but never long bed!

As far as the campers go - I am buying a Four Wheel Camper. They are located out of the Sacramento, CA area. I toured their factory and after viewing a number of pop-up campers, theirs is definitely superior to the rest. A little pricey - and almost impossible to find used so you almost always have to buy new. However, I feel the price is worth the quality. I also looked at hard shell campers for the Tacoma including Past-Time located in Oregon and Travel-Lite but I was not impressed with the latter. Travel Lite's quality was horrible and I decided against a hard side since it would prevent me from going to more remote places like my last set-up. Good luck and let me know if you need any advice in the camper area. Ive got quite the database in my head about them now!

Sweet! Don't forget to show us the rig when you get the camper on it.

I was very lucky to get the exact truck I wanted in the exact configuration. It took a bit but I managed to score. Thanks for the camper suggestions. I will defiantly take a look at Four Wheel... I haven't seen their product before. I'm sure I will be asking questions soon.

    Take Care

Did you find your truck sitting at a dealer or did you have to order it? I see though that yours does have one of the tech packages with the moon roof (assuming heated seats too?) I didnt want to pay the extra $3,600.00 so I got lucky with that... also got lucky in that someone at, Concord Toyota (not Toyota Marin where I got it, they had to do a dealer order swap) ordered it and I happened to come by and put a deposit on it the next day. Otherwise I'd be waiting 3 months to order it. I already did wait a month to have this one come in. Production date was 9/21 and arrived at the dealer 9/27. I picked up 9/29.

Four Wheel Campers have an Instagram page and post daily if you want to catch some 'in action' photos. They also have a pretty good website.

Once I was ready to pull the trigger I did a DC-area search, and there is probably 20+ in the area but not this precise one. I was about to factory order from Carmax and this popped up the Sunday before. The dealer was closed. I left a few messages on ALL their media types. I got a text 2 hours later from a particularly hungry sales rep. He would be in the next day. And the truck was marked down $2500. Imagine my delight. The next day she came home.

Pretty cool that you have a truck that is literally days old. You had a series of luck on yours as well.

The tech package I have is also JBL. It sounds great!

Wow very lucky! I unfortunately live in an area where the Tacomas don't last very long on the lot. And they certainly don't discount anything right now with the economy being very exceptional here. That is a good and bad thing, bad especially for buying a Tacoma!. When I bought my Crosstrek I actually had the local subaru dealer tell me "we don't have to discount the price, these cars sell themselves" . (I'll remember that when the economy tanks again) hah!

You have two very desirable vehicles. Subaru is on fire right now and in all models. The carmax dealer told me that as well. He said to use toyota's build and price to get what I would pay for an order. Either way, I'm happy as can be.

Yeah it took me a while to find the Crosstrek in the combo I wanted too (Pearl white, black interior, premium package) and a dealer willing to negotiate price. I again found it in dealer inventory before it ever arrived. I had them take a photo in the truck. LOL
