I'll take some pics for you tomorrow, I have a pretty compact daily tool kit (not the one I take on trips or wheeling).

On trips my left cubby is filled with angle grinder, air tools, etc, and right cubby is filled with stock jack and cordless drill. Also my tool box holds my recovery gear and most of my tools. Need to get a case for my spare CV's and driveshaft though. Last trip I just had both CV's just chilling behind the seat in the cab.

Yes it was way easier but understand these are TOYOTA remanufactured axels with a life time warrantee. Rebuilt by others that have the abilities and time as that is their job. Not the cheap knock offs you can get at the stores.

So I always have the little toolbox in the cab and it's filled with general tools that in almost all cases would be all you'd need for a normal roadside repair. They are all either Harbor Freight tools or tools I've found while scavenging junk yards so no real worry about leaving them in the cab.

When I go on trips I pack my good set of tools and various specialty tools as well like seal drivers, bearing pullers, some longer handle ratchets and a couple sets of box wrenches, really too much stuff to list. I pack all that into a Ridgid weatherproof case. My OSK consists of just about every fluid the truck takes, spare distributor cap, spare rotor, various greases, spare CV axle, spare serp belts, again a lot more that I'm forgetting.

Little tool box fits in the cab perfect...

Bearing puller? Spare rotor? Seems a little excessive. Not judging by any means but I think you can cut down on some weight. (Unless someone can tell me where some of this would be useful and I am being thick,) I basically pack shit I know I would need for trail fixes, or shit I've seen or used to save someone else's ass in a pinch. My 2wd kit will also go into my list of spare shit to bring when I get a working front diff again.

Spare rotor for the distributor, and a bearing puller is small and has multiple uses. Ever need to remove a pulley from something? It's cheap insurance. My OSK and tools really don't take up much room, the tool box is packed well and fits in a corner of the bed. The OSK is bigger but still I never have a shortage of space. This stuff only goes on trips to remote locations, general road driving or fire roads just gets the mini tool box.

Herp derp I thought you meant brake rotor. As far as pulling a pulley, all of the serviceable ones on mine have no issues coming off on the v6, except I am unsure about the alternator. Now a pitman puller on the other hand never leaves my tool box for tierods and LBJ's. Really not talking shit, and hope I am not coming off that way. I am always looking to find a balance between what I actually need for trail fixes and what can be left home to save weight.

It's all good, I keep a pitman arm puller in mine too. I never really run out of space, cause I pack light on just about everything besides food and beer.

You have NO idea how helpful it is to pack tools you'd never thought you'd need...

until you're in the middle of no where with no cell service or radio contact and an exploded truck with nothing more then what you and your friends brought with you.

    Trust me.

    Every tool is helpful.

Not my truck, but I spotted this on the drive home. Just a friendly reminder to get my ball joints done. Poor 4runner owner.
