I have the clunk in the steering when driving on rough roads. I noticed it when I upgraded my Sr5 shocks to the TRD Bilsteins.

My clunk is felt while rapidly going over small bumps. Feels like a play in the dteering comlumn. I don't think it's so much an important issue as about every 2nd gen has it.

I have it as well. Noticed only after installing lift kit. Sounds and feels like suspension area, sometimes both sides or just one side sometimes? Depends on speed and size of dip or bump? I have noticed it exiting from my alley onto the street which is at an angle. Sometimes over the wide but not so tall speed bumps? I really noticed it on the beach. With all the sand packed and smooth, up and down. I don't think I get it with any pot holes? Just smooth changes in surface? I was thinking maybe the springs are too stiff? Maybe compress and shoot back hard? If that makes any sense? I was told to go with stiffer springs for the ARB bumper and winch? I have looked and have not seen anything out of norm. Maybe I do have something loose? It's starting to bug the poop out of me!

I have the same thing..i noticed it while going over a cobble stone street. any fixes out there? also only notice it while in 1st or 2nd and going slow. When i pick up speed something happens (stabalizes) and the clunky steering feel is gone?

I got a clunk the other day wheeling. It was quite loud. It sounded like I had bottomed out the front right suspension but I wasn't going fast enough or hard enough to bottom out.

There is a clunk/rattle in the steering column- I notice it only on washboard dirt roads. Someone tracked this down, maybe on another forum, and it is in the steering column and in the engine bay portion. I can't remember exactly but I think it was at one of the couplings.

I get a clunk that actually reminds me of a broken Motor mount. It occurs sometimes on start up when I turn the key it sounds like the torque of the starter twists the engine and clunk. It is definately metal on metal sound. I also noticed that while driving at around 30mph at 1700rpm I get a metal on metal sounding vibration as well. I looked for the broken welds on the motor mount and any metal on metal places it could be touching but nothing.......

Before I even upgraded my suspension, and after hitting a large whoop in the desert my truck had the clunk that can be heard and felt through the steering column. My truck is currently at an independent shop and they think its the rack and pinion. But I'm also having my drivers side axle and bearings replaced due to excessive play that also might contribute to the noise...I will keep you all posted. :(
(BTW...if you don't have the clunk that you can feel through the steering column its most likely your swaybar hitting your coils.)

I have this clunk. Happened right after I lifted it 3" via Fox 2.5 Resi C/O's. At first it really really bothered me, but I just live with it. I have been wanting to take off my swaybar for a while as people say thats whats causing it, but just havent gotten around to it.
