Yeah just walk in and say you installed a Magnuson Supercharger and would like the TRD Supercharger ECU reflash

 

Tell them it's a TRD not like they'll know the difference. They are the same afterall - if they ask just say you took the badges off.

 

You can't take the badge off the main unit, its cast with the SC lol. That's the difference and how they can tell lol

Like I said before, some dealers will probably do it. Warranty is kind of a maybe as well as install. As per the TRD SC warranty card, if it's installed by a Dealer you get a 2 year Powertrain warranty or its added to the rest of your existing warranty whichever is longer. If you install it at other than a Toyota dealer, you get a 12 month parts warranty. And that's from the date of SC purchase, not the reflash. So if you do what I did and buy the thing and let it sit on a shelf for over a year, there's no warranty to it.

Also, you'd be surprised. Some dealers only let their Master Tech do the reflash since you're fuckin with the ECU at that point, so they won't just let any old oil jockey do it, and I'm sure they pop the hood just to do a minor visual inspection.

Trust me, dealers look for any way they can to get out of work.

I agree, that's why I have to hit the dealers tomorrow and see what they say.

Last quote was $800ish for the install and reflash.

 

That's not super bad. I've heard as low as $600 for install, I was quoted $2500 at my local dealer and was told "that's the industry standard" and then was quoted $1100 at a dealer a littler farther lol.

Anyone know what the price is from URD w/o the tuner (sounds like they'll sell it that way based on their description)? I'm sure I could get the TRD reflash done.

I don't really want to email them because the chances of me dropping ~$5000 are extremely low--I'd basically be kicking tires.

Who says you can't remove that badging? It's just aluminum, which is easily modifiable before you install. If someone wanted to get fancy and do a "debadge" they could just have have some minor machining done to get those emblems shaved down and removed then get it re-powdered.

 

In for any updates or results with the Bullydog tuner. I would like having that over the OEM reflash that I had to get done to my truck.

 

Just spoke with a friend. He had Boomslang make a Hybrid harness. Unichip to Haltech. Since the Unichip came with a plug n play harness for the '09+ models.

Now he is just waiting to purchase his Haltech Elite.

This is another option now available to those who want plug n play tune-ability.

Also might be nixing the not installed DT shorties for the URD equal length headers. Despite URD saying they won't fit with Total Chaos Coil bucket gussets, a couple LT guys have made them fit, but also have solid motor mounts, so engine movement is nil.

 

Bet those solid mounts are key. Still need to install mine.

 

They are AMAZING. Install sucks though, so be prepared for a long day of swearing. I hope you have nimble hands and a good sense of feeling also, otherwise that AC compressor will have to come off.
