5.7 iForce V8 oil filler neck on 4.0 V6 Supercharged Tacoma

I think this is the best place to put this thread so here it goes. I ran into a pretty small problem after I had the TRD Supercharger installed. I couldn't get my TRD oil cap off so after searching on Google I came across an archived thread on XR-Underground about this problem and a person mentioned that the shorter neck for the Tundra 5.7 V8 works on our V6's and will fix the problem of getting the cap off. So I decided to try it and post pics on how it looks as the archived thread had no pics so here it is and I can say it looks a little better too! It is really easy just need a 10mm socket and ratchet with a 5.7 filler neck.

Here it is just about two turn and it interferes with the supercharger making it impossible to get the cap off.


Leaving you with taking off the neck.


Here is a comparison between the 4.0's Filler neck and the 5.7's. Significantly shorter!


And mounts perfectly!


IMHO it is a very simple mod that makes it easier to work with and also makes it look a little cleaner under the hood.

That's weird! I haven't had any issues getting my oil cap on or off!

 

It's a little close of a fit, but the SC doesn't interfere with putting the cap on or off!

Good mod though!

 

I remember that thread from years ago. Is the 5.7 neck aluminum or plastic? Hard to tell.

Great Mod @WorldWar546 ! I did this last week after seeing your thread.

It's true that the TRD oil cap can still spin off with the TRD blower in place. But this shorter filler neck allows WAY more clearance. Less problems for guys with fat fingers or paws for hands.

Anyone know of an aluminum oil filler neck out there? Also for the ones who have done this, have you noticed any difference in the driving or anything bad like? Also, did you cut off the bottom porting that sticks into the valve cover housing since the OEM one does not have that?

 

FJ filler neck.

 

I can confirm that @Torspd is right about the FJ Cruiser Aluminum Filler neck fits the Tacoma gen 2 V6 engine. It is roughly the exact same height, you’ll have to make a gasket yourself out of some Permatex Ultra Black Oil Gasket RTV maker or whatever you’re poison of gasket maker is. It’ll look clean once I get around to putting the engine back together and painting it all

 

I had mine powder coated black. There is some irony in there somewhere.

 

That is pretty funny lol. I’ll end up probably doing blue and chrome paint engine and polished aluminum
