    hi guys and gals

i think I'm putting the cart before the horse here.
next year I'm looking into getting a 17 trd off road or sport. with the long bed

iam starting to looking at some upgrades
a lift not to tall max of 3inch after lift anything needed to be done w the computer system drive shaft or transmission
i have a 2000 jeep tj that has a 3 inch lift running 33x10.5. that I'm going to sell. to get my truck. i understand the jeep issues and requirements needed. I'm just don't have the knowledge on trucks if a sye is needed when you go over a certain hight.
skid plate good idea or bad
    k&n air system
if anybody knows it they make exhaust header yet or just doing a cat back system

thanks for any and all help

3" lift (king, fox, icon) etc you wont need to do anything. Add the lift (with alignment) and you're good to go.

    Items I would buy first

HIDs w/ LED fog light bulbs
    Suspension kit
    Wheels/Tires
    Grille
    Rock Sliders
Rear Bumper with spare tire carrier/can carrier
Front Bumper w/ Skid plate & winch
    Light bar or ditch lights

After all that I would then start looking at engine mods.

Before you get too carried away, you might want to review a lot of pages in the forum, and maybe stick with my famous "Stop Fucking With It" theory.

Keep the stock air filter. They use the same one for the V8 in the Tundra.

As far as engine mods go. The only real thing you can swap is the exhaust. Other than that, the engine and computer is pretty much locked down.

I agree, the horse is pushing.............

Your list reads like a series of magazine ads. It's ok to research, even write down a list of ideas to be culled. But just because you read it's wonderful doesn't make it so.

You should have the vehicle in hand and in service. Then make choices based on what you feel needs improving because of how you use the vehicle.

And if you are really a rat rod kinda guy, you'll be creative with your solutions. Not just a check writer.

Agreed. Apart from clear necessities, hold off on ordering a garage full of accessories until you've bought the truck and driven it for a while.

Let it tell you what it needs.

Also, stay away from the What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today? thread...

Best advice I've gotten on trucks is this:
Get the truck in hand and use it the way you will be (whether daily driver, mall cruiser, outlanding, dedicated off-roader, etc.) and learn how the truck works for you as-is. That will shed light on what the truck needs most (lift, armor, power mods, interior comfort, aesthetics, etc.). That way, you slowly build your truck to fix it's weaknesses in how you use it rather than just making a guess based on the opinions of others.

It was mentioned earlier, how are you going to be using your truck? What is your overall goal? And the biggest question, what is your budget?

Upgrades can add up VERY quick!!

I can take care of you with your suspension route so please email, pm or call me with any questions you may have!

    Thanks

    JT
