I keep blowing headlights!!!!

06 Tacoma. I am going thru headlights at a rate of 1 every 2 months. WFT!! @ $15-25 a pop I'm getting pissed. I've tryed the expensive one's the cheap ones, I don't touch the glass of the bulb...Anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know why this could be?

 

Thats really weird... maybe something is wrong with the electrical system and it sends to much voltage to the light which in turn blows the bulb? I have never heard of this, i'd say take it to the dealer unfortunately.

 

i have that same prob with my fog lamps they actually blow up.

 

Do you get water or moisture in them? I know that i got water in mine while is was on and it blew up.

 

Stop touching the bulb itself?

when you say that you've tried cheap, expensive, and so on... Did the original stock bulb go out or is it only aftermarket bulbs that are going out?

I've never had a set "whiter" or "brighter" aftermarket bulbs last more than about a year before one went out. That goes for this truck and the chevy I had before.

Sylvania "silverstar" is what I'm using...I don't believe it's the fact they are defective or cheaply made, I'ts gotta be something with the truck.

You could have a wire rubbin/shorting out.

 

It has to be something with the truck.. the only reason why is I just had pulled out my fog bulbs (1st owner for two years) and they are still good.. now I know the headlight bulbs and fogs are completely different....also toyota uses Sylvania..so technically, its OEM..

 

Just went thru this too. I have the Hella bulbs and one burned on me the other night. Lasted almost a year. We'll see if i they burn again, I'll be going back to OEM

 

Is the fuse properly sized?

 

My buddy uses after market bulbs they they blow on him every six months. I've always stuck with OEM and I think I've had to replace one in the past 10 years.

Do you have a voltmeter or cheap alternator meter you could watch while you're driving around?

 

are there any oem bulbs that are as bright as the silverstar afternmarket "white" lights?
