Advantages><Disadvantages to cutting your cat out of a 2009 tacoma 4L v-6?

I am thinking about cutting the catalytic converter out of my 2009 tacoma 4l v-6 and i was wondering what are some of the advantages and what are sme of the disadvantages? ( i know it will probably have more power and the sound will be louder but not then i got to watch for bylaw bob ) but im more worried if it would potentially wreck my engine. i haven't even begun to really look at the underside although i installed an aftermarket muffler because the old one was HUGE and CLUNKY the new one isn't bad sounding but its no magnaflow but i noticed a gain in mpg after tossing the stock one out. i know i may loss some mpg cutting the cat out but i figure it could be worth it..

It will make your exhaust sound louder for one thing. If your just planning on removing the 2 in the ypipe you won't notice any difference in power, but if you removed all 4 you will lose some low end power, but you gain it back in the upper rpms.

 

I Dont think you'll gain anything but sound if u just cut them out and replace it with straight pipe, if u cut out your front two then u will throw a cel and hafta get a o2 sim to correct it. Now if u cut them out and replace them with long tube headers, then u might gain some ponies! But u will still need an o2 sim. To correct the cel.

Not to forget to mention.... the O2 sensors are there for a reason and will feed certain 'data' back to the computer. Depending on the data, will cause your truck to 'run' differently because the cat isn't there.

 

look into the urd y pipe for your truck. gets rid of a set of cats and makes it a little bit louder, plus you can feel a little bit in the butt dyno.
