    My job gets me to some interesting places, one of them being the Central State Hospital this past spring (I had no idea it even existed until I went there). In Virginia it was one several asylums where sterilizations were carried out on black women until, believe it or not, 1979. It is still a functioning mental institution run by the state, and a few of the old buildings are still standing. I took a bunch of photos, was kinda creepy.

    We have pretty relaxed gun laws here. Very similar to Alabama's, but we don't need a permit for concealed carry.
