I just left my local Toyota dealership for performance of a routine 6-month service. I mentioned to the service writer that I would like to have the fluid level checked, because I thought the shift pattern seemed to be somewhat less than optimal, based on what I've observed in my other vehicles. As it turned out, a Technical Service Bulletin was just released (TSB-0077-16 TC1601.4). After a system reflash, the transmission is now very noticeably smoother, and the truck is much more pleasant to drive. It was not that the original shift pattern was particularly bad, I simply didn't have a suitable point of reference. So, at your next service, by all means, be sure to inquire about the TSB. Since there is no current recall, you might want to make a special visit for this highly desirable update. (You can thank me later). I suspect that it may also have some minor, positive impact on mileage. This forum has been a valuable asset to so many loyal owners, and it just keeps getting better. Many thanks to all the unselfish contributors for the many priceless posts.

Hey, I noticed that I was having the same problems with my brand new TRD Sport. When I asked the dealership about specifically the sluggishness in the cruise control, he said "Don't use the cruise control for the first 2,000 miles, it's getting used to the way you drive." That sounded like utter bullshit, so I made an appointment with the service department anyway to check for the transmission update.

Was he slangin' it? Or is that a real thing?

I apologize for the original post. I had not visited the Toyota World site in quite some time, and failed to review existing discussions, before making the post. I suppose I was a little too enthusiastic about getting the good news out that I failed to do my homework. I stand appropriately chastised.

We'll never get rid of redundant threads. Rolexus350 is describing his experience and trying to be helpful in informing us of the TSB. While a sticky, some may not see it, and may see this and help some. And the more that know, the better.

anyone who has had the TSB done i understand they have to disconnect the battery. did you lose all your pre sets in entunes and also any stetting like door lock and stuff?
i went in for the 1 year check and requested the do the TSB they advised me the tec that does the 1 year service is not the tec that does the TSB and i would be put in line after the service and they would get to it when they could. i decided not to wait so will re skd for the TSB only but was advised that the process requires they disconnect the battery, that's why the question.

Actually, I read somewhere that they have to connect up a very constant power supply to your battery while doing this so as not to cause any issues with a weak battery... So I'd guess...NO... the battery stays connected .
I've disconnected my battery a coupla times... nothing changed....BUT.. I don't got all those Celly Phones stuff and apps or whatever... (I always thought Bluetooth was a sign of gum disease..)??

    Hey I'm Over 60...!!
