I'm thinking of going tankless until I build a swingout rear bumper to move the spare. I'll mount under the bed at that point. I found 2 potential locations. Inside the passenger frame rail (very tight and hangs down a little below the frame) and behind the front grill. Didn't like either so I'm waiting. FYI also VIAIR 2.5 gallon tank

Same question. I have a 5 gallon tank that came with a kit, but that big bitch doesn't fit anywhere. If someone can point out a good mounting point for a 2.5 gallon it would be nice.

I was originally looking at the spot in the left rear quarter between the tire and back bumper.

What do you guys use the air tanks for?

I've got a cheap, crappy, barely working portable compressor that is still capable of inflating flats and airing me up after off roading. I'd imagine you all have better compressors ready to go. When does the tank come in play? Air tools?

I really only need it for the future front locker, which is why I'm waiting.

Mounted mine inside the bed to the side, ran plumbing to 2 chucks, drilled holes in front and rear bumpers to mount them. 100% duty cycle compressor and a 2.5 gal tank.

How well has this spot worked? Do you like it? How did you notch the webbing?

Yes I notched the webbing to better fit the tank. I used a sawsall and die grinder with cut off wheel and it worked pretty well
I run my factory spare all the time with the tank in place. It does give the spare a slight downward tilt but has caused me zero problems.

You don’t need an air tank for a locker.

Awesome what size/type of hose did you use from the air tank to the compressor and the air tank to the mounted coupler (that you would plug into to air up)? Did you also use a pressure switch on the air tank? Thanks

I believe it was 1/4 hard plastic airline used on commercial trucks.I also used the quick connect fittings instead of the nut and furrle
    but either works fine.
Yes I did use a pressure regulator from Viair and it is mounted at the tank per their instructions.
I ran line to a brass coupler that I drilled a hole and mounted next to license plate.
