Not an '09 Tacoma, but the other 2009s and 2010s that we've tried, like a Lexus GSX 470 have been consistent. If there's an unexpected problem, we can't test every vehicle for every year, we will figure it out and get it working.

All versions of this gauge have the performance timer (0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.)

I have not yet seen ambient air temp supported on any Toyota vehicle. There is a parameter you can choose in the set up menu option for ambient air temp that we've included for anyone to try, but it has yet to work. I didn't know that these vehicles had this sensor, so I haven't tried to find it beyond the generic ambient parameter.

It does display instantaneous mpg. It also will display the avg. but not in real time, you have to access it through the menu. The gauge calculates the avg. mpg whenever the instant. is being displayed. You do not have to enter gallons or reset anything after a fill up.

Trans temp is available just like any other, no programming required. When you first power up the gauge you will enter a setup screen where you will choose the parameters that you are interested in seeing in normal scan mode, such as trans temp, intake air temp, mpg, hp, etc. You only have to do this once.

I pasted the text below describing the features from our website:

The Interceptor gauge is 52mm (2 1/16") in diameter and will fit in all standard gauge pods of this size. A 9' cable is included with appropriate OBD2 connector. The gauge comes configured with a black face and bezel but a polished aluminum silver bezel and white face are included.

A function menu is available by pushing both buttons simultaneously. One menu option allows you to enter a record mode. Once selected, the Interceptor will return to normal scan mode, but will start recording the displayed data automatically when the throttle exceeds 60%. Approximately 60 seconds of data will be stored. Returning to the menu screen, you can choose to replay the stored data on the Interceptor display.

The gauge displays 2 parameters at a time, but can be programmed to cycle through up to 8 parameters during a user determined period of time. This way you can monitor several items without taking any other actions.

High intensity LEDs can be used as shift lights or warning lights to indicate when a selected parameter exceeds an entered threshold. Due to the gauges extremely fast update rate, this light is very accurate and easy to set. Once you try it you'll find you can't live without it!

Another menu option offers the ability to swap the foreground and backround colors of the display (as pictured below). Using this feature, for example, the gauge with a black backround and blue characters (negative image) becomes a blue backround with black characters (positive image). Not only can this be visually appealing but beneficial in changing lighting conditions. Positive images are easier to read in bright sunlight, negative at night.

The Interceptor's scan rate can also be adjusted through a menu function.

DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) can be accessed and cleared via menu options. This essential feature will help the gauge to pay for itself the first time the check engine light comes on. Those that have modified their vehicle will find this very handy when a sensor, vacuum line, etc. has been inadvertently left disconnected, or something was just not put back together properly.

The two analog inputs can be configured through menu choices. A linear conversion can be entered so that an analog signal connected to the gauge can be read in appropriate units. These inputs are handy for pressure signals such as those from MAP and oil pressure sensors, analog outputs from Air/Fuel ratio kits, etc. These signal can then be read and recorded along side the other parameters obtained on the vehicle's bus.

The gauge has bi-directional controls allowing for manual control of the low and high speed fans, CASE relearn and ECU reset on GM vehicles, and on most Chrysler vehicles the transmission controller can be reset and Electronic Stability Program can also be completely turned off to improve track performance. (No current bi-directional Toyota controls at this time)

New optional relay output module allows you to control a 12v relay based on values of OBD2 or analog input data.

Last but not least, the Interceptor will measure 0-60 times, as well as 1/8 and 1/4 mile time and speeds. This is accomplished through a simple menu selection. This function is not available on the ISO based (older imports) due to slower bus speeds.

Installation in most cases is accomplished by simply plugging the supplied connector into the OBD2 port below the steering wheel. Literally plug-and-play! Some vehicles such as those requiring the ISOi version (older imports) require switched 12v power. The rear connector of the gauge has a provision for this so installation is still a snap!

    Warranty
Aeroforce Technology warrants this product and its accessories against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase.

    Hope that answers your questions!

As far as the 09+ Tacomas are concerned they received a new computer and comp bus connections in 09 in order to support VSC, electronic limited slip, EBD, etc. This does not correlate with a Lexus 470 in any way as the change was specific to the Tacoma, might be the same on the FJ. Without a confirmation that it works with an 09+ Tacoma I would have a difficult time buying it unless there is a commitment to buy it back along with both shipping charges if it doesn't work and can't be made to work in a reasonable time.

BTW, the APR X-1 does not work with 09+ due to these comp changes, hence my concern.

On the temp sensor, I know on my 09 the sensor is there, but I don't have the overhead display.

We sent out a gauge for a 2009 2.7L Tacoma, and according to the owner it did not read trans temp. The only way I can figure this out is to get one in the shop and figure what Toyota changed. You just have to scratch your head at these car companies. This is totally senseless.

So, I guess if you have the 2009+ you need to wait.

If there any owners in the NE Ohio area and can stop by our shop I'll give you a free gauge.

Are there many 2006 and earlier owners interested? Toyota was much more consistent back then. It seems that most people on these forums own newer models?

7 hours or better for me :( someone jump on this. I know theres a lot of older owners arond here, I am shocked this hasn't gotten more interest, especialy with tran temp readout. I guess its more new toy syndrome. I have scangauge II right now, and I plan to give it to my dad as a present. These seem like such a nicer product and more versitile. I suppose this means the group buy won't be extended til the late model issue is resolved?

Glad someone brought to light the 2009+ incompatibility.

If anyone is interested in pursuing the single gauge pod for the A-Pillar through Lo-Tek, PM me and I'll be happy to provide you with the information I've gathered so far. Doesn't seem overly complicated, just getting 30 folks to commit would be the biggest challenge in my eyes.

    Where in NE Ohio? Cleveland?

It seems that all the car companies do the same thing, they add features/capabilities and change the computer out. Seems to happen every 3-4 years and I can see how it screws up the aftermarket, you know their not thinking of you :). I had a Dakota prior to my Tacoma and it was the same thing, comps/buses getting updated every few years and the aftermarket basically has to start over.

If you would consider mailing out a guage I know I would be willing to test it out, just can't come to OH, a bit too far for this guage. Let me know if there's any way to help out from a distance.

As far as people on this board, there is a mix, but you're hearing from the 09+'s since we have the question in our minds.

The annunciator lights, which can be used as shift lights, are programmed on the gauge using one of the menu functions. You basically choose the parameter(s) - you can choose one or two- and then enter the trigger value, lastly select "above" or "below", and that's it. For shift light function, you'd choose RPM, your value, 6000 for example, select "above", and then exit. Whenever the RPM goes above 6000 the lights will turn on. On CAN bus vehicles, you will find that the gauge and lights react faster than the tach on the instrument cluster. You can set the data rate at over 20x second, so it is very accurate and responsive.

I'm going to extend it, allowing people to sign up contigent on getting the 2009's to read trans temp properly. In our forum the gentleman with the 2009 2.7L Tacoma listed all the parameters that were supported. Everything works as I expected except the trans temp.

4.0/auto. I don't know if the 2.7 and 4.0 share the same computer "details". Don't recall seeing anything that leads me to yes or no on that one.
