    Bump...

Mine only drives me nuts when I get in my Outback and it's smooth as glass. Why can't my Tacoma feel like that?

I went with a shop foreman for a drive for another issue (differential). He was driving and I asked him if he felt it. He said he definitely did but there was nothing they could do about it unless toyota decides to go with different engine mounts.

I personally feel the engine mounts have a large play in it, but that it goes deeper than that. Cab resonance, possibly exhaust resonance. But as I've said before I see no end in sight for this issue. I believe it will be here to stay. I've just accepted it for now. Hopefully years down the road they design it out, but I'm not holding my breath.

This thread has quieted down lately. Fewer incidents of this issue?

Doubt that it is fewer incidents, just people getting used to it.

I've just accepted it and shift out of that range it if starts to bug me. I just cruise around 2500-3000 RPM now so it's manageable.

The issue is still there for sure. I have a 125k warranty now from Toyota for a separate issue so I'm just going to ride it out.

I keep hoping this thread will come back to life,my truck will be a year old next week.I absolutely hate having to adjust my driving habits to stay out of that rpm range.I like my truck, but when I am in a bad mood and drive it I honestly curse the day I bought it.I think if Toyota was going to address the issue it would have happened by now.

I feel the same way about the truck. I love it and then hate it. I don't think there going to fix the issue either.

Does anyone think it's the exhaust that's on the truck causing the vibration? I can also feel the vibration in the steering wheel when I first turn on the truck and the rpm's are around 1100. The exhaust is noticeably louder upon starting. The vib will go away once the rmp's come down.

IS there an official leaf spring kit they are putting out?

Yes. Just go to your dealer and tell them you have the the rumble strip vibration. There is a leaf spring kit that Toyota put out. They will also put a shim on each leaf spring.

    I feel for you guys.

I have this vibration, but its not nearly as bad as others say theirs is. But I'm exactly the same way...if I am in a bad mood and I drive my truck I want to drive it off a cliff. The diff howls, the thing virbrations and shudders to a stop--sometimes with a THUD (thanks slip joint!), and my brake pedal pulsates in a way that would satisfy most women better than I could.

I would be in a different vehicle if I 1. wouldn't take a $4k hit unloading it 2. There was another option in a midsize truck and 3. They didn't give me an 8 year 125K warranty. But there are days where I feel like I am hanging on by a thread and could just as easily drive to a lot somewhere and trade it for something that doesn't piss me off.

Hot damn! Do you have a TSB number for this?!?

MY service manager is the man, so if there is a TSB I am surprised he hasn't called me about it. He called me the day after the trans one was posted here on TW.

I don't think there is a tsb. But there is a kit they will "help" the issue not a complete fix.

That is a major theory. Several members have replaced their catback in hopes of a fix. Magnaflow's catback has been rumored to reduce it. The Flowmaster dual catback has been rumored to eliminate it (one member). I personally installed the Borla catback and it did not seem to change it much for the better.

So yours got worse? I feel like the vibration is getting worse on mine. I only have 2200 miles on it. I started to notice it a couple of days once I got it home.

I wouldn't say it has gotten worse over time, it has always been very noticeable for me. But I drive a manual transmission so it is very easy for me to find myself in that RPM range with the 4.3 gears, especially on the highway in 6th.

After the Borla install, the characteristic was changed a bit, but the buzzing was still there. After driving it for a while, I can make it buzz really bad on a slight incline 6th gear 2100 RPM. With the louder exhaust i would actually say that the buzzing in the floor at higher RPM's (about 3.2k+) is slightly worse. I have resulted to changing my driving habits. Shifting to avoid cruising at 2100 RPM is now part of my driving. In fact, I don't like how the engine performs at around 2k RPM and below anyways so I often cruise around 2400/2500-3000 RPM.

I drove a brand new auto trans 4x4 OR a few months ago. It had the buzz too but it didn't feel as strong. Granted the truck only had about 90 miles on it. Also the auto transmission with the 3.9 gears kept the RPM'S low enough (sub 2k) to where it wasn't in that range very long at all. I can see how a lot of people wouldn't notice it, unless a significant part of their driving has them in that 2100-2200 RPM range at cruise.

It is part of the truck, inherent to the design and I do not believe it will be going away any time soon.

Thinking about putting a magnaflow exhaust, because of the guy that claimed that the vibration went away on his Tacoma after he installed one, but if it doesn't go away I'm going to be really mad! Lol
Edit :is it magnaflow or flowmaster ?
