did some searching but couldn't find a solid answer...

Using my stock 17" wheels with a 3" lift what size tire can I run without having to trim the fenders? Currently running 265/70's which look good but would like a tiny bit bigger if possible.

Nope, can't go wider than 265s with stock wheels. They don't have the proper backspacing and will rub the UCA. Even 275s are very hit or miss on whether or not they'll rub. Wheels spacers will remedy this but go with either spidertrax or Bora. If you don't want to run spacers, go 255/80r17. They're slightly taller than 33" and 10" wide. This is commonly referred to as the pizza cutter look.

They'll save your MPGs, less trimming, etc.

I mean... Who needs fenders right? Haha
I Was thinking about 275/70s but question how those would fit as it looks like I would have some UCA issues. Trying not to buy some new dubs.

I figured he'd know better that he'd have to get spacers ... but yes you'll have to have spacers with stock wheels!

Eh. Doesn't look like any lift in that thread... Maybe .75 or 1." Spacer and call it a day?

I run 285/75/16 on TRD fake bead lock wheels with rubbing the UCA. Definitely rubbing the front mud flap but that's an easy fix if you want to remove them. Not sure if the back spacing on those wheels are different from the stock 16/17" wheels though.

With TRD trail ed 17x7.5in with 15mm backspacing (get Trail Ed. wheels off of an FJ or 4Runner) instead of the Tacoma TRD regular 30mm backspacing 285/70/17 will work. I have MINIMAL rubbing on the UCA's when turned all the way and flexing. Zero rub in the back. I have 3" lift.

    Hope that helps.IMAG0839.jpg IMAG0840.jpg IMAG0843.jpg IMAG0853.jpg IMAG0856.jpg

So, no with stock Tacoma TRD wheels, probably won't work. But, there are Toyota OEM wheels that will work if your like me and wanted to stay semi-OEM. :)IMAG0861.jpg IMAG0867.jpg

    How much of a spacer would I need to run a 275/70 or 285/75? .75? 1?
Also if I get crazy and start looking at new wheels what kind of back spacing should be I be looking for?

Go for a 1.25" spacer if that's the route you'll go. Get either Bora or spidertrax and install them properly and you'll be fine. I'm sure someone will chime in saying spacers are the devil, but as long as you keep them properly torqued you'll be good to go.

If you decided to go aftermarket wheels (my suggestion) then shoot for 4.5" BS or less

Go with 255/80. It's a true 33 and fits on a 3" lift on stock rims without trimming. My two cents.

I barely rubbed my stock UCAs. I don't rub my LR UCAs.

How much more clearance did you gain with the uca's? I'm waiting for mine to ship from a group buy.
