Soooo....after tearing my interior apart I realized that the left of steering instructions have the switch placed on the bottom panel, next to the trac off button, which is occupied by my clutch start cancel button. Does anyone know if there is still sufficient wiring to use this location? It's only a few inches away, so I'm guessing there would be. My next concern is whether or not there is room for the switch up there, after I rip the rest of the dash apart. :annoyed:

Well the mirrors are installed! Turns out there are a few extra steps if you have the 6 speed, but the kit still works great. There is plenty of wire, I had a bit extra pretty much everywhere, but a few zip ties take care of that. Since the MT has no extra switch blanks on the bottom, the blank beside the fog lights must be used. This requires taking the upper dash apart, which just pops off really. The only other MT issue is threading the coat hanger through from the passenger side, since the parking brake handle and bracket are in the way when trying to locate the end to attach the wires to. Other than that, the instructions are great and the kit is very well built and designed. The install is pretty time consuming if its your first time taking all the interior panels off, but I'm excited to finally have some heated mirrors.

@Up2NoGood thanks for putting this post together. I've been following along with this and other posts, collecting parts to build a similar set up.
I wasn't happy about the $70 center switch so I've been on the look-out for something else that would work. Today I found this:
    http://www.aironboard.com/online/toyota-replacement.html
both left and right switches are available with heated mirror symbols and availability of various LED colors. Not inexpensive, but less expensive than factory Toyota switches. Hadn't seen anyone use this before so I thought I'd give you a heads up in case it's an option you want to offer in your kits, or in case there's someone else out there piecing a setup together as the budget allows.
This is Texas so mirrors don't freeze often, but getting the condensation off is nice before heading into crazy town.

Thanks! So would I turn it off during normal commute driving and then turn on when going on trials? I presume if thats the case, I should use it during rainy days?

Your traction control is always on. If you push the button down it brings up the traction control light on your dash (which means traction control is off under 30 mph). If you hold the trac off button for a couple seconds then it will bring up a trac off light on your dash (which means your traction control is off at any speed). I don't touch the button unless I do some pretty gnarly off roading where you don't really want traction control or want to do some drifting in the dirt or snow.

I don't see price anywhere. Maybe I missed it. How much for Green, all in one mirror switch assembly, with a 10 minute (if that is even possible) in the US?

Prices are all in the first post. You just have to read it carefully because it's so damn long.

Ok just checked for you. It looks like $355 for the switch, but $35 extra for a timer and another $35 extra for illumination. I'd just stick with the left of steering or under climate control switch personally, if you have the room.

Thanks for the post. I had seen those when I first started up and wired up a couple of kits with them. There were a few minor complications to using them and I ultimately decided it would be better for me to stick with the OEM switches. It's certainly possible to use them though!

Yeah the first post is definitely in need of some tidy up at this point. I just found that a lot of the same questions were being asked so I tried to include as much information as possible in the first post. The prices that @StevoNB quoted are correct (thanks) for complete kits which would be the switch, timer, harness & mirrors all shipped to your door.

The kits are admittedly a bit on the pricey side, however that was the cost of going with OEM components which will be both high quality and perfect fit. I could have got the cost down by a decent amount going with aftermarket parts but figured the majority would want to go with the genuine Toyota approach.

Heated mirrors from @Up2NoGood. 5100 Bilstein all four corners.
I have mine at 10min and think it's plenty. I live in fog/dew area and 5 is enough, but go to the Sierra's and 10 is more than enough on frost/snowy mornings. I think I've only hit the button one extra time but only for a few extra minutes. Petty much one and done.

It's my understanding that heated seats and mirrors were only offered from the factory for Canadian orders. And to be honest, that may have only been limited to the heated seats.

We've had some really rainy weather lately, and while I was reversing down a forestry trail this morning my mirrors began fogging. With a push of a button, my mirrors were clear in about 30 seconds. So happy with this kit!

If they are the original mirrors then they will just be standard with no heating strips.

It's just the heated seats (which I do have and love!). I could never wrap my head around why you could get factory heated seats in Canada but not in the US.
