Programmable Mud Flaps

Wonder if you could develop a remote control device that would allow your mud flaps to turn in various directions at once or simuntaniously to deflect rocks and assorted debris; perhaps by a joy stick on the dash...or maybe to turn to the side to "low five" another similar vehicle...any thoughts?

 

while your at it, invent a remote control that can swivel the windsheild sprayers. i would like to be able to squirt bums that get too close to my vehicle

 

Me thinks that would be wonderful......if you had an autopilot so that you wouldn't have to watch where you were going, shift, steer, etc....!

When I saw the title of your post, I immediately thought of a remote control to adjust the length....so they were longer (as they are now) for salt, slush, snow, etc....and shorter for when you were going to get into something a little deeper and heavier......as in off-roading.

x2 Having the ability to raise and lower your mud flaps would be awesome. IMO they look ugly as hell on my truck so I removed them, but if they were retractable that'd be awesome.

This wouldnt be super hard if you had the tools really and the know how for retractable mudflaps.

Nice idea!!!!!! Perhaps we could throw in some chrome-reverse muffler bearings, a fuel-injected ashtray, a 3-table resturaunt in the bed, and a human hair roof!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Stop flaming everyone... This is a indifferent concept but it no need to be made fun of. There maybe a time that there will be power-mudflaps....

 

Holy crap. I lost it when I got to the part about the human hair roof.

 

It could probably be done with a set of power mirror gear (buttons, controller circuits, and servo-motors) and a linkage mechanism sized to convert the servo movement into the desired range of motion for the flaps. The power mirror rig already has evertything needed for 2-axis control, but the linkage would need to be custom.

Probably a little on the spendy side for as much real-world utility it'd provide, but you could probably draw some wows on a show-truck similar to some of the more complex multicolor underbody light systems that show up on sport-compacts.

The hose to my friends jeep was broken on the back window, so when he tried to wash the back window it would just shoot out the back of the car......it was perfect for hitting other cars when they would tailgate him!

 

i'll try to come up with something,right now i'm working on halogen blinker fluid.

 

Great idea but then we would likely be discussing another TSB for issues where the flaps were programmed to dodge the rocks and debris. Probably a payoff by the paint shops.

 

Right now I've rigged the tailgate to slam the hood of the vehicle behind me if they're too close to me at a stop light, and a projecter and screen that pops up for peeps behind me at train crossings complete w/ a small snack bar and snow cone machine...seriously...

 

haha funny u mention that mine auctualkly does squirt people unpluged passanger window cleaner connected new tube to the side and it goes about 4 feet to the side. i had it coming out of my grill logo until i got a new grill. cost about 1.50 for the hose and about 5 min to install
